Dhanush to sport three looks in 'Irandam Ulagam'

Grapevine has it that Dhanush will sport three different looks in the project he is working along with his brother, Selvaraghavan, tentatively titled 'Irandam Ulagam'.

The first of which is a young look where Dhanush sports a single earring stud, and has a more cool appeal, the second look has him sport a beard making the look give a whole gloomy appeal. The third one is something few of us have seen, Dhanush with a thick mustache giving a whole mature touch to his character.

Although expectations are raving high on this Dhanush and Richa Gangopadhyay starrer, the makers are keen about not revealing any information on the characters or the script. In fact, the announcement that 'Irandam Ulagam' is only the work title of the film has led to further expectations...

Amala Paul dubs for 'Vettai'

Although Amala Paul had worked in a few projects before 'Mynaa', this damsel from Kerala shot to fame and was recognized by critics only after working in this Prabhu Solomon offering. She is now being considered as a promising young talent in the Tamil film industry and has bagged herself some interesting projects with big names.

Grapevine has it that in her forthcoming film, 'Vettai', a multi-starrer directed by Lingusamy, Amala Paul will dub her own voice! 'Vettai' has Madhavan, Arya, Sameera Reddy and Amala Paul essaying lead roles and is gearing up for a diwali release.

IG had reported the rage the trailer of 'Vettai' is setting in theaters, that has Madhavan in a scene that makes one look back to earlier Maddy - Lingu blockbuster offering, 'Run', that released almost a decade ago.

An actor dubbing their own voice opens up chances of being recognized by prominent award committees and leading directors. Way to go girl...

Jiiva Marathon

Well I just went through my 2nd marathon, for a couple of weeks. This time it was actor Jiiva, who has acted in movies such as Ko,Raam,Siva Manasula Sakthi, and more. Here is the list of movies I saw, in order of my most favorite to least.

1. Ko
*ing: Jiiva,Karthika,Pia,and Ajmal
Everyone has that movie of a certain actor, in which they notice or become a fan of him/her. Ko was it for me. Jiiva once again proved himself as an actor, through this film. Jiiva also shared great chemistry with Karthika and Pia. The songs were just awesome! Till Ko I saw like 4 movies of Jiiva, which weren't very eye catching, but in Boss Engira Bhaskaran I thought he was pretty funny.

2. Dishyum
*ing: Jiiva,Sandhya
Loved it for its cute love story, about a stunt man and an arts student falling in love. I thought it was different how they fell in love. By the way nice acting done by both Jiiva and Sandhya. I have seen the movie twice, and still every scene is something to look forward too.

3. Siva Mansula Sakthi
*ing: Jiiva,Anuya,Santhanam
SMS, is watchable anytime for me, I don't know why. I can turn it on anytime and still not get tired of it. The creds go to Director Rajesh for making it such a cool film. Shout Out to Anuya, for her commendable acting in her debut film. I still love the songs! :D

4. Rameswaram
*ing:Jiiva,Bhavana,Lal
Number 4 for the Jiiva and Bhavana pair, (they were adorbs) and the story. I also admired the awesome Sri Lankan Tamil, it was very different from the Tamil spoken in TN, and I like the sound of it.

5. E
*ing:Jiiva,Nayantara,Pasupathy,Ashish Vidyarthi,Karunas
Out of all the Jiiva movies I've seen, this was the MOST different. His character had this negative shade, that later changed to a nice person. The Jiiva and Nayan pair was unexpected, but nice.

6. Boss Engira Bhaskaran
*ing: Arya,Nayantara,Santhanam,Jiiva-Cameo
Since this is only a Jiiva post :D This ranking is only based on his cameo. His Cameo was hilarious XD Since it was Rajesh from SMS who directed it, his cameo had shades of Siva. :D
KT was named Tamil M.A before.

7. Kattradhu Tamizh
*ing:Jiiva,Anjali
At number 7 for Jiiva's awesomely insane acting! I still can't he didn't at least get a State Award, for this performance! Anjali and Jiiva made a cute pair :)) Once Again,Anjali is one of those talented debuts. The ending was surprising.

8. Raam
*ing:Jiiva,Gajala,Saranya,Murali
Once Again, Awesome acting by Jiiva and it was only his third film! I find it sad that Gajala's career didn't take off well after the movie. Raam was a good suspenseful movie to watch. :)

9.Kacheri Arambam
*ing:Jiiva,Poonam Bajwa,J.D Chakravathy
For its humor mostly(satirical comedy), Jiiva's comical acting. Love the songs, they are so catchy especially: Kadavule Kadavule,Kacheri Arambam, and Vaada. :D Poonam leads the "Pair list" for Jiiva. Though all the other actress were pretty good, I don't know why Poonam seems awesome for him. :D I guess they just had a spark between them. ;)

10. Singam Puli
*ing: Jiiva,Divya Spandana,Honey Rose/Sandhya
Another one for Jiiva's acting! Wasn't excepting a character with that kind of negative shade from Jiiva.

11. Thenavattu
*ing:Jiiva,Poonam Bajwa
Sadly, this is one of my least favorite Jiiva movies, it failed to attract. Some good things: Jiiva-Poonam pair= Awesomeness! :D, And it also projected trans women in good light, unlike all the other movies that project the in a bad way.

12. Pori
*ing:Jiiva,Pooja,
Another Jiiva movie that failed to attract. :( The only good thing: Perunthil Nee track. Jiiva and Pooja were very cute together, evidence: the poster above. :)

Final Stuff: Jiiva is a skilled actor and a wonderful person. Make sure to watch out for his upcoming movies: Rowthiram,Vandhan Vendran,Nanban, and Mugamoodi! :) He also is turning a producer along with his bro,Jithan Ramesh, its said that his production company is going to be called Spiral Dreams.

Make way for 'Angane Thudangi'

'Angane Thudangi' is a rom-com that is directed under the captaincy of Nandini Reddy and produced under the Sri Ranjith Movies banner. The movie is the dubbed version of Telugu super hit 'Ala Modalaindi' and stars Nani and Nithya Menen essaying lead roles.

The film sees Gautham, played by Nani, who is in love with Simran, played by Kriti Kharbanda, and then he is injured in the head by Nithya, played by Nithya Menen. He is then hospitalized and things take a twist as Simran falls in love with the doctor treating Gautham and they even get married!

At the wedding, Gautham meets Nithya who was in love with the doctor, and later Gautham falls for her truly. What follows next and how he confesses his love to Nithya forms the rest of the story in 'Angane Thudangi'.

Although there was a mad rush in Malayalam for the remake rights of this film, the makers are confident and want to release the dubbed version. Nani has been on a promotional spree for this film, and Nithya Menen has carved a niche for herself among Malayalam movie fans already.

It will hit the screens all over Kerala on July 28.

'Ko' goes with Shahid or Ranbir?

The kind of magic that KV Anand's 'Ko' created among audience need not be talked about for movie buffs are still smitten by this Jiiva starrer. 'Ko' released this summer and starred Jiiva, Ajmal, Piaa Bajpai and Karthika in lead roles and the movie was an instant hit, what with the unique script and perfect composition of elements in this commercial thriller.

We had earlier reported to you that although many Hindi filmmakers were eyeing on this film and were willing to offer some whooping price for the remake rights of this film, it was Akshay Kumar who bagged it.

Although it was said that Akshay Kumar will don the role of Jiiva in the Hindi version, grapevine is now abuzz that Shahid Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor are being considered for this role, whereas Ajmal will mark his entry in the same role he played in the original, that of an aspiring politician.

However, an official announcement is yet to be made on this front. Do post your comments on who do you think will fit well for this role...

Vishal ready with a 'Vedi' for Diwali...

Post 'Avan Ivan' the actor in Vishal has been truly recognized by one and all, and expectations on his next ventures are shooting up sky high. As earlier reported, Vishal is teaming up with Sameera Reddy under Prabhu Deva's direction for a diwali release that was tentatively titled 'Prabhakaran'.

This film is a remake of Tollywood super hit, 'Souryam' and is gearing up for a Diwali release, and the latest buzz is that the movie has seen a title change to 'Vedi'! Sounds like a perfect diwali release, doesn't it?

This film sees Vishal and Poonam Kaur as siblings, and it must be noted that Poonam donned the original role as well, whereas Sameera plays Vishal's love interest. The original lead roles were reprised by Gopichand and Anushka Shetty.

It is also said that through 'Vedi' Sameera will try her hands at comedy for the first time ever and there's a hot item number with Sophie Choudry. All set for some 'Vedi' this festival of lights?

Who is Krishna in 'Kazhugu'?

In a first of its kind role in Tamil cinema, Krishna, the 'Alibaba' and 'Kattradhu Kalavu' hero, is playing a man who rescues bodies of those committed suicide by jumping from a mountain, in 'Kazhugu', his forthcoming film.

"I was so thrilled when director Sathya Siva narrated the script to me. I realized that it is the character of a lifetime. I immediately rushed to Kodaikanal to learn the trade from those who are involved in it," he says.

Recalling it as a risky operation, Krishna says, "It is not an easy thing to recover dead bodies. Because they would be scattered into pieces as those committing suicide would jump from a great height. Those doing this need great appreciation."

Bindu Madhavi from Tollywood is playing the heroine, while Karunas and Thambi Ramaiah play pivotal characters in 'Kazhugu'. "The film is about a man who protects his love like an eagle. No one can escape from his eyes," concludes Krishna.

Rowthiram music from next week

Jiiva has been taking scrutinizing efforts for his upcoming film Rowthiram. It’s not because the film is produced by his father RB Choudhary of Super Good Films, but the actor is keen on retaining his big status achieved with Ko. Perhaps it was the reason behind reshooting some sequences for the sake of perfection.

With the film’s shooting recently wrapped up, the producers have decided to release the film’s music by next week. The news has been officially confirmed by Jiiva, who is busy now shooting for Shankar’s Nanban. The present season is witnessing the arrival of more newcomers in music industry and Prakash Nikki will be the latest to join the bandwagon as Rowthiram marks his debut as music director in Kollywood.

Now for Lal's Onam offering 'Pranayam', Antony has come up with a smart idea- that is to present the movie as the star's' 300th film as hero. But lal's forty minutes will be the highlight of the movie which will have him in every shades that will impress the fans and masses alike.

'Pranayam' will also feature Anoop Menon, Niyas, Nivedita and Dhanya Mary in other importnat roles. While Sathish Kurup is the film's DOP and the movie will feature music by M.Jayachandran.

More screens being added for 'Rangam'

Directed by KV Anand 'Rangam' is surprising everyone in the Telugu film industry with more and more screens being added for its screening. The film was released across the state in a few theatres, but the film got a tremendous response from everywhere and the producers were forced to send more and more prints to each centre and many theatres are coming forward to screen the film to cash in on the hit talk of the film.

Despite a heavy competition from the original Telugu films like '100% Love', 'Veera', 'Badrinath' and '180' and dubbed films like 'Vaadu Veedu', the film withstood it and successfully completed a 50-day run and is aiming to complete 100 days.

Jeeva, who paired up with Karthika for the film which was actually made in Tamil with a title called 'Ko' was a runaway hit in Tamil Nadu. Noticing huge response to the film, the producers decided to release the film in Telugu too, as both Jeeva and Karthika are famous among the Telugu audiences as well.

S Kumar and R Jayaraman of Super Good Movies have come forward to dub the film in Telugu. It is not a joke that a dubbed Telugu film evoking such a huge response.

The film is earning good revenues and running with near houseful collections in many theatres across the state. Interestingly, from this weekend, eight more theatres are added for the film in Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

Not just in Capital city, in many rural towns, the film is still running to good crowd and is the first option for many moviegoers. The film had almost collected decent revenue in Telugu bringing profits to the producers.

It is learnt that the film is now getting ready to be remade in Hindi too with Akshay Kumar as hero and Karthika is making her debut as heroine in Bollywood with this movie.

The 'Subramaniapuram' girl is back!

We all saw her as Thulasi in 'Subramaniyapuram'. Post this Sasi Kumar directed venture Swati Reddy has been quite choosy about her signing films. The actress recently revealed in an interview that her hiatus after working in 'Subramaniapuram' has been because she received similar roles to play in most of the offers that came her way, and she did not want to be type-casted.

Swati is now joining the same Sasi Kumar-Samuthrakani duo in the latter's directorial venture 'Porali'. The film sees director-actor Sasi Kumar in the lead with Swati playing female lead. The film is touted to deal with the suffering and the troubles faced by Sri Lankan Tamils.

Sources close to the actress reveal that she will be playing the role of an independent city-bred girl in the film. Swati had been nominated for the best actress category for her performance in 'Subramanyapuram'. She has also won a couple of awards for her roles in Telugu.

Now joining the same successful team, we can just hope it works out for the better for this Russian born actress!

'Porali' is rapidly progressing and will most probably hit theatres during the last part of 2011....

Nayanthara refuses STR but Shriya obliges

Nayanthara may have bid adieu to films but the film industry is reluctant to let her go. Recently STR and Dharani approached her with an offer for an item number in Osthi. This will be a remake of the famous Munni Badnam Hui number which had diva Malaika Arora Khan in a scorching routine. They were willing to pay big bucks too as Nayan has a super successful track record for sizzling numbers.

Nayan however refused politely as she wants Sri Rama Rajyam in Telugu to be her last outing. She plays Sita in the film and the role is very close to her heart as she found it very spiritually uplifting. It will be the perfect way to say goodbye to the big screen which she loves. So her answer was a firm no.

STR is not too upset however, and he asked Shriya Saran, who was more than happy to oblige.

Sonia Agarwal's big fat comeback

After Sonia Agarwal's marriage to Selvaraghavan ended, the actress went and reinvented herself. She shed the ungainly pounds and got herself a fab makeover. Her new avatar got her lots of compliments and even better a small role in Vaanam. After that things just kept getting better for Sonia who currently has four projects on hand.

The Kadhal Kondaen girl is doing Matha Pitha Guru and Poi Sollathedi in Tamil and Grihanadhan in Malayalam. Last week, a new project landed on her lap. It is called Oru Nadigayin Vaaku Moolam. The film is loosely based on the life of a leading actress and will be directed by Raj Krishna for producer Kesavan.

Sonia is over the moon and says that in all these films she has solid, performance - oriented roles that will definitely boost her credentials as an actress who can act and not just put on a glam show.

Taapsee is finished

Taapsee is done with Vandaan Vendraan. Jiiva had already finished his portions and only a song with Taapsee remained. It is being shot today at VGP. Once it is done, the unit will be having a little farewell party to celebrate the completion of their film and the effort that has gone into it.

Director Kannan who did films like Jayam Kondan and Kanden Kadhalai is trying his hand at a new genre with this film. It is going to be a crime thriller with great action. Nanda is the villain in this film and Santhanam will be providing the comic relief. The film was shot in Mumbai, Goa, Turkey, and the jungle belts in the Western Ghats.

All eyes are on Jiiva as he is having a great year career wise. Taapsee's first film in Tamil won the National award and she says that VV will get her the love of audiences.

My Reaction to Delhi Belly

Just came back from Delhi Belly, my reaction: OMFG. I was personally shocked to see stuff like profanity and sex on screen. Was NOT expecting that, but at the end we all came out laughing, so we had an awesome time. But I must say, I appreciate Aamir Khan for breaking his stereotype of only decent films. This was a breakthrough for him as a producer. We all enjoyed his cameo at the end! :D Also, the type of movie,Delhi Belly was should be appreciated too. It felt like watching an American Comedy flick on screen, except for the Indian actors and accents. :P :D Totally different from the movies coming out know. Most of it was in English, Im yet to discover why. To say the truth, my friends and my jaw were dropping in many of the scenes, cause we sure didn't know what we were going to face when we went to see the movie. But, the most of it was hilarious! I seriously don't think I have ever laughed this hard for ANY OTHER movie!! All three of the main characters: Imran Khan,Kunal Roy Kapur and Vir Das, were my favs! They were so funny! :D Once again, I was not expecting Shenaz Treasurywala, the last time I saw her was in a Telugu movie, back in 2001. The most used profane word was Fuck. Couldn't they have thought of more words? :P To conclude, I kind of think they tried to make it like an American movie, in which they succeeded but in a awkward way. I recommend this movie to people who are mature to handle the content. :) Oh, and PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR PARENTS.

My Rating: 4.5/5
