'Avalude Raavukal' - 2 with Prithviraj

As the remade version of old time hits like 'Neelathaamara' and 'Rathinirvedham' has managed to keep their producers and the viewers happy, more plans are out in similar lines in Mollywood. One film that is being considered for such a remake is I V Sasi's 'Avalude Raavukal' which came out in the late seventies.

One of the much debated movie of the time due to its controversial content ' Avalude Raavukal-2' will most probably feature a fresh face in the role that Seema has done in the original. I V Sasi himself will be calling the shots for this remake also, which will be produced by Liberty films. While the role done by late Sukumaran in the original will be handled by his son Prithviraj in the remake, I V Sasi is now busy fixing the actors for other characters of the movie, which will have almost all the sequences as its original.

Gautham Menon spills the beans on VTV 2

We had earlier reported to you that 'Vinnathandi Varuvaya' will see a sequel that will be titled 'Vinnaithandi Varuvein' and will feature Silambarasan as Karthik again, and will go on floors by December 2012.

The media was abuzz with reports on this, especially due to fans who were overwhelmed with this news. When a media house, published that the movie will go on floors this November 2011, Gautham wrote to the press saying he will be working on a project with Simbu but nothing has been confirmed so far, do note, he hasn't denied it either.

Gautham said, "VTV 2 is not confirmed. Reports about the film starting in November 2011 are not true. I am talking to Simbu for a project in June 2012. The script, the cast and crew have not been finalized. VTV 2 was an idea we spoke about but I haven't decided as yet if that's what we will be filming. Amy Jackson is not on board the project as yet. Simbu and I, we are in conversation about a film and nothing else is confirmed about it. It will be a pleasure to work with Simbu once everything is confirmed."

However, our reliable sources claim that VTV 2 will go on floor in November / December 2012 and will have Amy Jackson paired opposite Simbu, or, the Hollywood heroine who is being considered as the second female lead in Simbu's 'Vettai Mannan' will play lead in Simbu's 'Vinnaithandi Varuvein.'

While Simbu is currently busy with 'Podaa Podi,' 'Vettai Mannan' and 'Osthi,' Gautham is held up with his Hindi version of 'VTV' that has Amy Jackson playing the lead.

But looks like one thing's for sure, we're might get to see Simbu and Gautham pair up by 2012 end, whether it's a sequel to VTV or a whole-new-subject, we'll have to wait to know...

'Venghai' ready for release

Looks like 'Venghai', a Dhanush-starrer directed by Hari, has come out of a legal tussle it faced last week, for the producers Vijaya Productions are now planning to release the film on July 7.

According to sources, a settlement has been reached between Eka Chakra Media (P) Ltd (which claimed rights for the title 'Venghai') and Vijaya Productions, following which the movie is gearing up to hit the screens.

Last week, the release of the film was stayed by the Madras High Court due to a contesting claim by Eka Chakra Media. The company said based on its application, South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce (SIFCC) had registered the title Venghai in August last year. The registration was valid for one year and a further renewal of six months.

However, Vijaya Productions, director Hari and Sun Pictures, which had purchased the negative rights, had given the title to a film as Venghai, to be released in July, knowing fully well that the title had already been registered by Eka Chakra.

Staying the film's release, Justice V Ramasubramanian said that despite the title having been registered in favour of Eka Chakra, the very same name had been given to the film made by Vijaya Productions.

It's time to shoot 'Maatran'

Now that Suriya has completed '7am Arivu' and K V Anand is ready with the complete script of 'Maatran', it's time for the duo to start the film. We learn that the movie would go on floors after the wedding of Karthi, Suriya's younger brother.

"Suriya is extremely busy these days making arrangements and inviting friends and relatives for Karthi's marriage in Coimbatore (July 3) and reception in Chennai (July 7). He will be free only in the second week of July," say sources.

"Before the shoot, Suriya has to do some homework for his getup in Maatran, as Anand has asked for a more suave and stylish look of him. The shoot may start with a song which will be shot in an exotic locale," they add.

Produced by Kalpathi S Aghoram's AGS Entertainment, 'Maatran' brings together Suriya and Anand after the super hit 'Ayan'. Other members of the 'Ayan' team - music composer Harris Jayaraj and writers Subha are also there in 'Maatran'.

One more heroine makes it to Bollywood

Samantha, the heroine in Bana Kathadi and the critically-acclaimed Moscowin Kaveri, has been signed up for a Hindi flick. The actress is excited to bag the offer to star in Bol Bachchan, a film that stars Abhishek Bachchan and Ajay Devgn.

Samantha says that director Rohit Shetty approached her with the role because he needed a south Indian face to play that particular character. She has two Telugu films – Dookudu and Eega – in her kitty right now. The actress says that she is happy over the way her career is shaping up and is looking to make it big in Bollywood too.

Karthi, for a cause

Karthi Sivakumar has become the cause ambassador for Lysosomal Storage Disorders (LSD), and called for support from the media to create greater awareness on the disorder so that, many would come forward to help the affected children.

Talking to journalists in Chennai on Saturday, the actor said, "Experts in the field say only six out of 40 LSDs can be cured through treatment such as enzyme replacement therapy. I request corporate firms and other institutions to donate to the cause and lend a helping hand to the affected children."

LSDs occur when the lysosome, the recycling centre of the cell, malfunctions, resulting in the breakdown in the cell. Depending on the area where the cell destruction happens, the patients suffer from organ failures and muscular disabilities.

This is not the first time for Karthi to lend a hand for a cause. Recently, he adopted a white tiger named Namratha at Vandalur zoo and contributed Rs 72,000 (which would cover six months of her expenses).

He said, "Awareness has to be created in the need to protect the animals, and I would like to visit the various wildlife sanctuaries during my free time."

Jeeva's Spiral Dreams

A couple of weeks ago we reported that brothers Jeeva and 'Jithan' Ramesh, sons of ace producer R B Chowdry, are planning to float a production company on their own, in a bid to promote young talents. Now we have more updates on the front.

The firm to be started by the duo has been named Spiral Dreams. It will start functioning in a couple of months. "All that we want is to producer and present quality films," says Ramesh with an optimistic smile.

Revealing plans for the future, he says: "Both Jeeva and I will continue as actors even as we produce films. We are venturing into production just because of our passion. And we have our father's blessings too."

'Dabangg', which was the highest grosser last year, was adjudged the best film of 2010

The IIFA provides the climax for three days of moviegoing, dancing, fashion, music and a business forum aimed at strengthening ties between India and Canada - something event organizers hope to do around the world, too.

Amala not in Indian Rupee

Mynaa fame Amala Paul, who debuted in films through Lal Jose's critically acclaimed Neelathamara, has denied rumours that she will be the heroine in writer-director-producer Ranjith’s Indian Rupee, starring Prithviraj in the lead.

The actress however confirmed that she was offered the lead role, but had to refuse since the makers wanted immediate dates in July, which would result in date clashes with her other film Muppozhudhum Un Karpanai. The actress also said that she loves to do Malayalam films, but right now her priorities are in Tamil.

It's not 'Irandam Ulagam'!

So what about his 'Venghai' that has recently hit the news? "And 'Venghai' will release soon, sooner than you think. God bless," he signs off.

A sequel to VTV - STR and Gautham team up again!

Great news for all those who love to see romantic flicks; the team that gave us the sweet and lyrical Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya is coming together once again. And, the best part is that they are going to give us a sequel to VTV, one of the most lovable romantic musicals to come out in recent years. Its going to be Silambarasan and Gautham Menon joining hands one again with the core team that gave us VTV being retained. We are not yet sure how much of the team is being retained, but knowing the part that Rahman’s music played in taking VTV straight into our hearts, it is difficult to imagine a sequel to the superhit without the wizard’s compositions.

VTV came at a time when Silambarasan’s career was being perceived to be moving on an action/mass hero track. But, choosing to go subtly and delightfully romantic, in the classy way of Gautham Menon, Silambarsan broke all perceptions and images that had been associated with him. Yes, this actor had different dimensions and he had chosen the right time and team to exhibit that. The character of Karthik will be remembered even a decade from now as the one that put Silambarasan on the course that he was destined for. And, it is not surprising that he is eager to be Karthik once again. And, if we talk about Karthik, how can we forget Jessie. We are not yet sure whether Jessie will be a part of the sequel, but Jessie will be close to the hearts of movie lovers as the character which presented Trisha in her most classy persona as yet. And, can we overlook Ganesh? Gautham Menon’s casting masterstroke that was the most endearing character in the movie after Karthik and Jessie.

Yes, we know that you want to see them all again, but we are not sure how much of Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya will be carried over to Vinnaithaandi Varuven – yes, that is the provisional title as of now. But, it is not going to be all like VTV-1. If that was a smooth, mellow and sweet love story that left you with a lump in your throat towards the end, the new one will have more color, more vigor and more energy. The energized version of VTV!

So, are Gautham Menon and Silambarsan getting to work on it immediately? No, Silambarasan is still busy with Vettaimannan and Gautham Menon is working on the Hindi version of VTV-1 and is also in talks with Jiiva for a Tamil film. So, VTV-2 will take off only after Vettaimannan and the Hindi VTV are done and a final decision is taken on the project with Jiiva.

Its Gautham Menon back to what he does best, romance. After the change of track in Nadunissi Naaygal, he is getting back to the endearing romantic ways that have made his films favorites with lots of viewers around the world; so get ready to fall in love all over again – hosanna.

Kollywood and Tollywood to ban Kajal Agarwal

Kajal Agarwal has got into trouble for making a statement during the promo event of the Hindi flick Singham, which is a remake of the Tamil blockbuster Singam, starring Suriya. The actress had said that she never considered herself to be a south Indian actress as she is a north Indian by birth.

This comment has now snowballed into a huge controversy. The Tamil and Telugu film fraternity are upset with Kajal Agarwal for making such a statement when she depended on these film industries till she got an offer to star in a Hindi film.

There is a widespread demand that Kajal should apologize for her statement, if not she will have to face a ban.

Isha Sharvani talks about Zaheer Khan

Almost all media reports which claimed a few days ago that Isha Sarvani will be one of the leading ladies of Kamal Haasan's 'Viswaroopam', had a mention about the actress's much talked about 'relationship' with cricketer Zaheer Khan.

Now, Isha, who is one of the best classical dancers in Bollywood, has come out with an explanation on this. "I am not in a relationship with Zaheer Khan. I don't know from where such gossips are popping up?"

"Though I am not bothered by such reports, my family members are taking them serious. I find it very difficult to convince them. I guess this is the price celebrities should pay for being popular," the actress adds.

Saying that she would love to do challenging roles, Isha was however non-commital about being roped in by Kamal for 'Viswaroopam'. However, sources say that Isha, who is known as a rubber doll because of her agile moves, apparently suits the spy thriller because she can do a Halle Berry-Catwoman act to perfection.

'Aravaan' on August 26

While word is doing the rounds that 'Aravaan' will hit the screens this Diwali, we at IndiaGlitz bring some exclusive news to you about the release date and the other tidbits of 'Aravaan.' This period film that is an adaptation of a famous novel by Su Venkatesh titled 'Kaaval Kottam,' will hit the screens on August 26.

Also, the film will see a star-studded audio launch in the first week of August, say reliable sources.

The director, Vasanatha Balan, is leaving no stones unturned for making this film a good entertainer. The mood of the film is set in the 17th century and for this purpose the technical team has created a huge set similar to that of a tiny village near Madurai. Some portions have also been filmed from villages in Thenkasi.

The team has extensively shot in the dense forests of Kutrallam, Vizaag and Hogenakkal for a period of 135 days and more!

Vasantha Balan has carried out a lot of research on this subject which is evident from the still pictures that have come out. Initially there were rumours about the film being delayed due to some glitches in funding, but all that just seems to be just rumours because the shooting has been going on without a pause in full swing.

The film sees Aadhi and Pasupathi in lead roles with Dhanshika playing opposite Aadhi. Insiders reveal that Aadhi and Pasupathy have put in stellar performances in this project which will take their popularity up by many more notches.

The film will also have some surprises in the star cast. Kabir Bedi will be essaying a very prominent role in the film and Bharath too will have a part to play. But their makeovers and characterizations are under strict wraps.

Singer Karthik is turning music director with this project. He has made us enjoy his songs with his wonderful rendering of songs irrespective of the different genres that belong to; we hope his music too gives a fresh feel to the film as well as the audience. And it's only more challenging a project to debut as a music director as this is a period film dating back to the 17th century.

Produced by Amma Creations chaired by T. Siva, 'Aravaan' is shaping up for an August release. Team 'Aravaan' is shooting its stunt sequences currently from Madurai and the film is nearing its completion with just some 15 days of shoot pending.

When we know more on 'Aravaan' dear visitors, so will you...

Trisha in demand

Trisha is broadening her horizons considerably these days. Having reached the top in the Tamil and Telugu film industries and made her Bollywood debut opposite Akshay Kumar, she is all set to do a Kannada film with Dharshan. But that is not all, the Bhojpuri film industry is wooing her big time, hoping to get her to sign on the dotted line for a few of their films.

South Indian heroines are no strangers to this industry as stars like Nagma and Rambha have rocked in a few Bhojpuri films. Trisha was flattered we hear, but not too keen to commit, as she is very busy with other projects. She wants to strengthen her position in the South, and then conquer Bollywood as well.

The new combo in K-town - Gautham, Jiiva & AR Rahman!

Gautham Menon’s next Tamil project will be with Jiiva. Pairing up with him will be Samantha. The director has decided to direct an action-romance flick and has found Jiiva to be the most suitable for this. This venture will go on floors once Gautham is done with the Hindi version of Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya.

Manoj Pramahamsa may wield the camera for this venture. Gautham has decided to retain Rajeevan (art director) and Anthony (editing). The icing on the cake for this venture is AR Rahman. The Oscar winner has been roped in to score the music for this flick.

Vijay plays a cop in ‘Pagalavan’

Looks like the Seeman – Vijay duo is keen on starting ‘Pagalavan’ right after Vijay finishes up with ‘Nanban,’ a multi-starrer under Shankar’s direction.

We had earlier told you the script consisted of a doctor Vijay, who plays the role of Pugazhendi and serves the poor in a village and then fights a mafia who deals with expired medicines.

But now, Seeman has brought about certain changes in ‘Pagalavan’s script, making it a whole-new-package altogether!

This new aspect will show a young Vijay fighting for a cause, against the privatization of certain sectors by the Government. ‘Pagalavan’ will see a rough-tough war between Vijay who is a doctor and a police officer. And during these fights, Vijay realizes he can do better for the common man if he is a part of the police force.

He then studies IPS, rises to power as a police official in the society and puts an end to the mafia who is dealing with expired medicines.

So yes, Vijay dons the avatar of a doctor and later a police officer in ‘Pagalavan.’ We must remember that Vijay’s earlier movie where he played a cop - ‘Pokkiri’ was a blockbuster.

Jeeva puts on a ‘Mugamoodi’

Kollywood grapevine is abuzz that Jeeva has been roped in to act under Mysskin’s direction in the latter’s key venture, ‘Mugamoodi,’ and for which the hero will be sporting a never-seen-before look.

Jeeva is currently busy with the shoot of ‘Nanban’ and it is said that after finishing this project under Shankar, he will be taking a short break and proceeding with ‘Mugamoodi.’

We had earlier informed you that Mysskin had first approached Suriya for ‘Mugamoodi,’ but it did not work out due to the high budgets, he later approached a few upcoming heroes and then producers didn’t favour him.

Now it looks like, producers have come forward for this as Jeeva has risen to a star status after delivering a blockbuster hit through ‘Ko.’

The movie deals with a superhero who fights away the dark sides of the society and those close to the director vouch that it will be a perfect family entertainer-cum-thriller.

The team will see funding by a leading corporate company in Mumbai, special effects by a Los Angeles company. What more can a Tamil cinema fan ask for?

The filming will start this August, after ‘Nanban’s completion, and will be a 2012-mid release…

We’ll get back to you shortly with more details on the cast and crew of the film.

Malayalam Box Office Report: Seniors , still strong

Though the rains has washed away the prospects of much of the films in Mollywood Box office, the new mutistarrer from Vysakh and Vyshakha Rajan, 'Seniors' still continue with its dream run. The movie takes the top of the list with little competition, continuously for the fifth week in a row. The top five movies of the week are :

1.Seniors' - The movie is undoubtedly the biggest hit of the year till now, grossing a distributor share of 5.7 crores in its 35 days run. The movie entering its 40 days in the Box Office, still hold strong at 43 of its release centres. While all the district headquarters still witness hundred percent collections in the weekends, the movie is in single shows in 8 centres.'Seniors' was made in a budget of 4.5 crores, including print and publicity.

2.'Badrinath' - Though the movie was released last week, this Allu arjun starer fails to bring in audiences as expected. The movie continues in its 75 centres with average collections.

3. Janapriyan' - The movie scripted by Krishna Poojappura created good word of mouth and even got stabilised in collections in its second week, the big rains has washed away the prospects of the movie to end up as a big hit. 'Janapriyan' is now down to 15 of its release centres in its fourth week. As of now, 'janapriyan' from Jayasuriya and debutante director Boban Samuel will be an average earner at best.

4. 'Manikyakallu' - The second movie from M Mohanan has to face a tough fight from Seniors in the initial weeks and succumbed to the mighty multistarrer, but in the later weeks the movie gained good word pof mouth and well become a safe earner. This feel good movie from Prithviraj, is in its sixth week and continues in 15 centers, of which seven centres have a single show.

5.'China Town' - The multistarrer from Rai-Mecartin team, featuring Mohanlal, Jayaram and Dileep is in its 63rd day run in nine of its release centres. But only three of them feature the movie in full shows, as all the rest have them as a noon show film. The movie made in a budget of 9 crores is reported to have earned 6.5 crores as distributor share from its 50 days run and will be a hit in all counts. Interestingly, 'China town' has also completed 1 crore collections from a single theatre in the capital city.

Megastar Mammootty' latest Jayaraj film 'The train ' has become his biggest failure in this decade, with very few takers, though the movie is just into its third week. 'Urumi' - now into its 75 day continues in a lone centre at the capital city.
T V Chandran's 'Sankaranum Mohananum' and Albert Antoni's movie with freshers 'Vadamalli' also opens to poor responses and may not remain in theatres for long.

Hansika confident on success of ‘Kandireega’

The combination of Ram and Hansika in ‘Maska’ failed to reach the expectations and the film was commercially failed to make a mark at the Box Office. However, the same combination is repeating again for ‘Kandireega’ under the direction of Santosh Srinivas and produced by Bellamkonda Sureh on the banner of Sri Sai Ganesh Productions.

The shooting is almost nearing completion and the talkie part of the film was finished some time ago. Canning of songs for the film is in progress from June 14 at Malaysia. It is learnt that Hansika is quite confident on the success of the film as she reportedly told her close confidants that their chemistry was very awesome in the movie. Superstar discharged

We all knew that Superstar was admitted in a leading hospital in Singapore, today the star has been discharged as he has met a complete recovery for his illness.

His son-in-law was the first to greet Superstar's fans all over the globe with this news. He tweeted, "Superstar discharged from hospital. He has recovered completely and taking rest. Soon national award celebrations god bless."

Our birdies add that Rajinikanth will stay there for a few more days. Remember, Dhanush had earlier told us that Superstar is on a shopping spree and the family is looking forward to a vacation?

Maybe, its time for that and they are finally getting to celebrate Dhanush's success of bagging a National Award, now that Superstar is all fine. We'd say the vacation is much-needed after all that's happened over the last few days.

After taking good care and much rest, Rajinikanth will start off with KS Ravikumar's 'Rana' alongside Deepika Padukone.

Fans can now be all glee as their prayers have been granted.

VTV comes to Chennai, again

e had earlier told you that breezy-romantic entertainer, 'Vinnaithandi Varuvaya' is going up North, and will be directed by Gautham Menon again.

The movie is titled 'Prem Katha' and stars Amy Jackson of 'Madraspattinam' fame with Prateik Babbar.

Now the latest is that, the team of 'Prem Katha' has come to Chennai to shoot few important scenes.

Those who know Gautham Menon well know his love for Amethyst, both the old and the new outlets. The director can be spotted at this café-cum-boutique, sometimes penning his scripts. It seems, few scenes of 'Prem Katha' were shot here, few at the beach and even the scene where the protagonist is jailed, for 'gate-crashing' his love's wedding, seems to have been shot in Chennai.

Some birdies even go on to say that a few songs of 'Prem Katha' will be shot here as well but we can't be sure of that.

'Mankatha' attracts Bollywood crowd

Well it looks like 'Mankatha' has hit the bull’s eye in making news. The film is one of the most-wanted projects back in the homeland – Tamil Nadu.

The shooting of the film is entirely through and the post-production team is busy to carry the film forward to the theatres in one perfect foil.

It looks like some Bollywood producers are eyeing 'Mankatha,' to remake it in to Hindi. While the director of this project, Venkat Prabhu, has not confirmed anything regarding the same openly, there are some reliable sources in the industry who have confirmed this. Venkat Prabhu seems to be taking his time in nodding his yes to the Hindi-speaking crowd.

Venkat wants to first launch his film for the Tamil audience. The film is touted to hit theatres during August, but a tentative date has not been finalized yet. The film might hit theatres sometime during the Independence Day, suggest experts.

While there are talks going on as to the Hindi remake of 'Mankatha,' some of sections of K'Town were plagued with rumours that 'Mankatha' is a remake of Bollywood film 'Jannat' which released more than a couple of years back starring Emraan Hashmi in the lead role. The remake news seems to have perturbed Dayanidhi Alagiri, who has firmly denied any similarity between the scripts of ‘Jannat’ and 'Mankatha.'

The music of 'Mankatha' is touted to hit the stands in July.

Quick Random Post: Nakka Mukka!

Yeah, I know this is 3 years late but.... I didn't have a blog 3 years ago, so hear.

So I came across the music video of the female Nakka Mukka version on TV today. It took me back to memories, when I first heard it, how I tried to learn the moves,etc.. I knew I could never master the Male version, but the female was possible. I like the dance moves of the female version better than the male. But in the Male version I like the part when they are singing Nakka Mukka repeatedly AND sitting AND doing the thing with their legs! SO COOL! Since Im a lover of fast Kuthu beats, I loved Nakka Mukka right when I heard it! Its too catchy, so are the dance moves. For me Mass moves are the ultimate dance moves, everything else is after them.  By the way, the choreographer of both versions is Sridhar. Music director Vijay Antony.

Female Version sung by: Chinna Ponnu, and Nakul

Cool Moments: The whole song.

Male Version sung by: Vijay Antony

Cool Moments: 0:27, The awesome leg movement: 0:52. Okay you know what? The whole song is cool too :D

Nakul is a real good dancer, along with that woman that dances with him.

'Badrinath' collected Rs 16.5 crore: Allu Aravind

Even as Badrinath opened to pathetic reviews, the production house Geetha Arts maintains that the movie collected Rs 16.5 crore over the weekend. A far cry from reality, Allu Aravind announced that the movie recorded one of the best openings in the history of Telugu cinema.

Allu Aravind informed that Badrinath collected Rs 14.5 crore in AP, Rs 1.6 crore in Karnataka, and Rs 75 lakh in Kerala. He also announced Badrinath contest to the movie goers and the prize for the winners is a free trip to Badrinath temple.

"There is a mixed talk about the film because people expected it to be a semi periodic film like Magadheera but it turned out to be a contemperory film. Allu Arjun's Himalayas sentiment is working well with the audience. He shot Gangotri there and then Desa Mudhuru was also shot in Himalayas. Now after watching Badrinath, many want to go to Badrinath temple" Allu Aravind said in a media conference on Monday.

Despite an official announcement from Geetha Arts that Badrinath collected Rs 16.5 crore in three days, trade pundits rubbished it off as publicity stunt and said that the movie didn't collect more than Rs 8.5 crore.
