Looks like 'Venghai', a Dhanush-starrer directed by Hari, has come out of a legal tussle it faced last week, for the producers Vijaya Productions are now planning to release the film on July 7.According to sources, a settlement has been reached between Eka Chakra Media (P) Ltd (which claimed rights for the title 'Venghai') and Vijaya Productions, following which the movie is gearing up to hit the screens.
Last week, the release of the film was stayed by the Madras High Court due to a contesting claim by Eka Chakra Media. The company said based on its application, South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce (SIFCC) had registered the title Venghai in August last year. The registration was valid for one year and a further renewal of six months.
However, Vijaya Productions, director Hari and Sun Pictures, which had purchased the negative rights, had given the title to a film as Venghai, to be released in July, knowing fully well that the title had already been registered by Eka Chakra.
Staying the film's release, Justice V Ramasubramanian said that despite the title having been registered in favour of Eka Chakra, the very same name had been given to the film made by Vijaya Productions.
