Muran Movie Review-Expect the Unexpected

Muran stars Cheran,Prasanna,Hari Priya,Nikitha, and Suma B.,Neelima Rani in the lead roles. Its directed and written by debutant Rajjan Madhav.Music is by Sajjan Madhav and cinematography by Padmesh; and editing is by Arun Durairaj.

Story: Nanda's(Cheran) car gets stuck on the road after a conflict with these random people. So Nanda needs a lift, here comes Arjun(Prasanna). Arjun gives Nanda a lift and as the ride goes on; both of them share their stories. After a bit, Prasanna drops the "bomb", except the unexpected.

Performances: Prasanna is back with a bang! His role is on the lines of Anjanthe but not that cruel. He has lost alot of weight and looks super cool, kudos to the stylist. Cheran, its hard to answer: Is he a better director or an actor? He does both, so well. Hari Priya, this is my first movie of hers I have seen,an she's a pretty good actress, but the voice didn't suit her character. Nikitha was a surprise, she has kind of disappeared all these years, and shes back; her acting isn't bad either. Suma B. is another surprise, she needs to work on her acting skills. Jayaprakash is also good in what he has. Neelima Rani is always awesome,no matter what film.

Direction:Muran is directed by debutante Rajjan Madhav, and he truly seems promising from his first film. Though the film is based on Strangers on a Train, Rajjan seems to have his own style. He doesn't waste time in doing un-needed scenes. He's definitely a director to watch out for.

Cinematography and Editing: Camera work by Padmesh plays a big role in the thrill factor of this film. Especially towards the end and in the beginning.Arun Durairaj the editor does a clean job in the editing section.

Music: Sajjan Madhav is the brother of Rajjan, the director, handles the music.Music is not bad at all, goes along with the story.

All you Tamil movie buffs, WATCH IT WATCH IT WATCH IT GOOOOO. You really don't want to miss it! Once Again, when you go, Expect the Unexpected.

Thejabhai is the first

Young star Prithviraj's 'Thejabahi and family' will be the first of the Onam releases. Featuring 'Kaaryasthan' fame  Akhila and Suraj in key roles, the movie is a hilarious ride through the life of a gangster turned lover. Shot at Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia and Thiruvananthapuram, the movie is written and directed by Deepu karunakaaran, who had earlier made some interesting  movies like 'Crazy Gopalan and Winter'.

The movie produced and distributed by Anantha Vision is expected to be on theatres by the 26th of this month. With some interesting promotions and posters, the movie has already become the most awaited film of the season. And as it comes two weeks earlier than the Onam weekend, the movie is expected to rake in pretty good collections in the opening weeks.

Sunil to be seen as 'Poola Rangadu'

He forayed into a difficult territory - that of playing male lead - with Andala Ramudu, and then went on to bag a prestigious film with SS Rajamouli years later (Maryada Ramanna). Sunil, the comedian, has always wanted to be an actor donning all kinds of roles. He was being choosy in selecting scripts for playing the male lead and thus we saw only an occasional one coming with him in the shoes of the hero.

Then, Achi Reddy offered him a script, titled as Poola Rangadu, and Sunil immediately gave his nod. The film is a laugh riot where Sunil will play a comedic role and Isha Chawla will be his heroine.

Presented by RR Movie Makers, the film will be produced under the banner of Max India and will be directed by Veerabhadra Chowdary (Aha Na Pelanta, 2010).

Looks like Sunil will get a break with Poola Rangadu and the same will undo the damage that Katha Screenplay Darshakatvam - Appalraju may have caused to him.

Illayaraja tunes Sri Rama Rajyam songs in record time

For Maestro Illayaraja, inspiration is quite important. A genius that he is, he is always humble to claim that he is a student of music. Whenever he scores music for a film, music lovers set their eyes and ears on it. Speaking at the audio release function of Sri Rama Rajyam, the Balakrishna starrer, held at Bhadrachalam on Monday, Illayaraja said that the tunes for the film were scored after the lyrics were written.

It is for the first time that Illayaraja is is working for a mythological film in Telugu language. In his brief speech, the Master musician revealed that three songs were tuned to the lyrics penned by Jonnavittula in a record 15 minutes time span.

That speaks volumes about the amount of inspiration that one of the greatest film music directors of all time had derived from the mythological, directed by Bapu.

Former Vijay's heroine is his new heroine

Priyanka Chopra did her first film in Tamil, opposite Vijay, fresh after winning the Miss World crown. The film was Tamizhan and the duo even sang a song together for it called Ullathai Killathey. Vijay must have been her lucky charm because her career really took off after that film. A couple of films with Akshay Kumar later, Priyanka became one of the hottest stars in Bollywood and even went on to win the National award for her film, Fashion.

Now it looks like Priyanka will work with Vijay again for his film with Murugadoss. Apparently the script wowed Vijay and Priyanka also fell in love with her role and was eager to team up with her first co - star. Besides Murugadoss is a big name in Bollywood after Ghajini with Aamir Khan became a blockbuster and launched Asin's career north of the Vindhyas. If this trio come together successfully we are sure that there will be fireworks.

Trisha cautions fans

Trisha is very happy to be a part of Mankatha as she is a huge Ajith fan and loves working with him. She can't stop raving about how brilliant he is and his many talents.

Ajith's heroine had a word of caution for the fans though. She has requested them to watch the film with a completely open mind. Usually fans expect certain things in their favorite hero's films and feel cheated if those elements have been left out. Trisha said that this is hard on the stars. The fans should just enjoy the ride and prepare to be surprised but in a pleasant way.

Trisha is pleased that the audio sales have gone through the roof and she said that it is not surprising because the Yuvan - Venkat Prabhu combo is a good one and the cousins always do brilliant work together.

Hansika says no to bikini

Hansika Motwani is very happy with the way her career is going. In Telugu, she has just delivered a big hit with Ram and in Tamil after making a dazzling debut with Maapillai and Engeyum Kadhal, she has become everybody's darling. The pretty actress also has Velayudham opposite one of the biggest names in the industry, Vijay, gearing up for a big release and OKOK with Udhayanidhi Stalin.

When asked if she was willing to go down the glam road, Hansika said that she would never wear a bikini as it would make her very uncomfortable and her parents would not approve either. She said that there is a fine line between glamor and sleaze and she does not want to cross it. Performance oriented roles are the only type of roles she is interested in it seems.

Rowthiram Movie Review-Action Packed..

Rowthiram stars Jeeva and Shriya Saran in the lead roles, and many others in supporting roles(literally many). Its written and directed by a debutante Gokul, and cinematography by N. Shanmugasundaram; another debutante Prakash Nikki scores the music.

Story: Shiva(Jiiva) is an angry young man who lives by his grandfather's(Prakash Raj) philosophy of life; which is: If something wrong happens in front of your eyes, question it, in other words don't just sit there! do something! But his parents(Jayaprakash and Lakshmi R.) are totally against it, they just want him to be "normal". Priya(Shriya Saran) sees his boldness and falls for him,in the meantime he gets tangled up with criminals(Ganesh Acharya) and Gowri....

Performances: Being Shiva is a breeze for Jiiva,he most certainly seems to have improved in the action department. He also has moduled his voice to suit the role of an angry man. Priya could most possibly be one of the best roles in Shriya has played in her career. Her role had a bit of scope, and was not a glamorous role, neither was she clad in clothing from head to toe. She did what was needed, yet in some places was just okay. Jiiva and Shriya had neat chemistry. Jayaprakash,Lakshmi R., Srinath, and whoever played his sis played well has Jiiva's family, in the film. Sathyan provides a good comic relief in the first half.Ganesh Acharya was wasted, he was lost after a song. Babu Antony wasn't bad as Shriya's father.  The dude who played Gowri, did what he was supposed too. Prakash Raj and director Gokul make guest appearneces which they are obviously not bad at.

Direction: Gokul is not at all bad as a debutante, though the movie did have its share of flaws, but give him a break, its his first film. In an action packed film, he has managed to give enough scope to the actress of the film, which should be applauded.

Cinematography:  N. Shanmugasundaram cinematography was not too great,it was okay.

Music: Prakash Nikki who is also a newcomer is commendable in his department of work. Malai Mangum Neram is definitely the pick of every music lover, actually no, its everyones pick(applause for Ranina Reddy, the singer of the song).Adiye un Kangal, Sengathal,Golimaare are nice, foot tapping numbers.

Pros:

  • Suitable Cast
  • Not bad direction for the 1st time.
  • Malai Mangum Neram song
  • Jiiva and Shriya's chemistry
  • Jiiva's improvement
  • Good music
  • Heroine is given importance
Cons:

  • Okay Story
  • Not much comedy
  • Cinematography
  • Ganesh Acharya's role
  • A couple of dialogues weren't given needed pauses, and some weren't justified with certain expressions, if that makes sense.
  • Long fight scenes

Finally...: The first half had everything from action to romance to comedy to sentiment, but the second half started to get a bit more serious, so it lacked comedy and much sentiment. No harm done in watching it once, definitely not a boring or bad film. So, go for it :)

It's Prithviraj-Shriya in 'Hero'

Shriya will be back in Mollywood for yet another innings, and this time the southern siren will be splitting screen time with Malayalam heartthrob Prithviraj. The film has been titled 'Hero and Deepan will be calling the shots for this picture.

While some sections of the media had reported that Trisha will be roped in for this film which might have proved her launch pad to Mollywood, this has not materialized because of lack of dates available from the actress. But Trisha recently stated in an interview that she is open to do films in Malayalam as well as Hindi (apart from Tamil of course) if she gets good roles to perform.

Now this project with Prithvi and Shriya in the lead will take off sometime in November. This will be the second film the audience will see this pair on the silver screen, the first being 'Pokkiri Raja' which had Mega Star Mammootty in it.

'Hero' will be Shriya's third film in Malayalam. We will get back with more on this film as it starts to roll...

A Telugu hero to team up with Arya

Tamil actor Arya broke the rules of the game by donning a anti-hero's role in a Telugu movie a year ago. It was Varudu, where he acted as the antagonist against Allu Arjun. It is now his turn to take back a favour. A Telugu hero, who is yet unnamed, will act with him (probably as a second hero) in a bi-lingual to be directed by Sri Raghava.

Anushka Shetty will play the female lead. The movie will go to sets sometime later this year. The name of the popular hero from Tollywood has been kept under the wraps for now.

Though the name of a particular hero is doing the rounds, it is not officially confirmed and could well be a baseless speculation.

Chiru announces Cherry's engagement date

Megastar Chiranjeevi sprouted a surprise by announcing the engagement date of his son Ram Charan on Twitter. The date is final: September 2. (The date also happens to be the birthday of Cherry's uncle, Pawan Kalyan).

The suspense over the date was finally over when Chiranjeevi, a Congress politician, became active on the micro-blogging site just to make the announcement. It is not known whether the family will invite the media or will keep it a private affair.

As is well-known, Cherry's soulmate, Upasana Kamineni, is a Hyderabadi who helms a health magazine. Ever since the news of their engagement was broken by a news channel last Saturday, Upasana's picture has been splashed across newspapers, tv and Internet.

'7am Arivu' for Deepavali

There are some fireworks in store this Deepavali, for plans are on to release '7am Arivu', Suriya's next directed by AR Murugadoss, on the festival of lights.

"Producer Udhayanidhi Stalin is planning to release the audio, composed by Harris Jayaraj, very soon. Nearly five weeks after the music launch, the film will hit the screens for Deepavali," sources say.

Suriya plays a tripe role in the film, which has Shruthi Haasan opposite him. A sci-fi action thriller, the story of '7am Arivu' shuttles between the present and the Before Christ era, we learn.

Director Murugadoss is hopeful that the film would break the records created by his earlier venture with Suriya, 'Ghajini'. "Besides, it will tell the world the rich culture of Tamil and might of Tamilians," he says.

Andrea in 'Nanban'

Shankar always ensures that his films get nothing but the best in all aspects. Currently busy shaping up 'Nanban', a remake of Bollywood hit 'Three Idiots', he has roped in Andrea Jeremiah for an important task.

Andrea, if sources are to be believed, will dub for Ileana, who is playing the female lead in the Vijay-Jiiva-Srikanth starrer. Already a popular actress and singer, Andrea takes the avatar of a dubbing artiste in 'Nanban'.

"Shankar felt that Andrea's voice would suit best for Ileana, who is playing a college student in Nanban. So the choosy director approached her for the task and she accepted the offer," say sources.

More than 70 % of 'Nanban' shoot is over and the film may see the light of the day on Deepavali. Music is composed by Harris Jayaraj, who has joined hands with Shankar after 'Anniyan'.

Trisha does it for Ajith

Trisha is notoriously famous for her poor Tamil, which has resulted in dubbing artistes being used for all but a couple of her films. However, for Ajith's golden jubilee film, Mankatha, Trisha will dub for herself. Apparently, director Venkat Prabhu and Ajith felt it would be better that way and together they convinced her.

Venkat Prabhu said that Trisha has an important role in the film. He said that the actress shares great chemistry with Ajith and their scenes together in the film are sizzling. Her voice would suit the character perfectly and so he asked her to do the dubbing and Trisha obliged. So audiences can start preparing to hear her particular brand of Tamil mixed with English dialect.

On being asked why she turned down Ajith's Varalaru, the actress admitted that she had reservations about the role which eventually went to Kanika because her character had to scream at Ajith and use really abusive language. Having worked with him on a number of hit films, Devayani said she was too fond of him and could not bring herself to actually yell at him even if its only acting.

Devayani also thanked hubby/producer Rajkumar and her director Senthilkumar for believing in her and standing by her at all times.

A change in Lal's 300th movie

Earlier in the initial promotions of his Onam starer 'Pranayam' directed by Blessy, Superstar Mohanlal himself has announced that this will be his 300th film and will be promoted likewise. And the latest we hear is that it will be Sathyan Anthikkad's new film and not 'Pranayam' that will promoted as lal's 300th film. The change of film is said to have come due to the intense pressure of the fans of the star, who wanted him in a full length role in his 300 film.

Sathyan anthikkad's latest movie is a family drama with adequate heroics, which will be a sure bet to end up as a hit, as the director has not met with a flop in his last eight years. Moreover, Blessy's 'Pranayam' have Lal in a role that just will fill less than half of the screen space. These are all the reasons that have prompted for a change in the 300th film of the Mollywood superstar.

Theatre owners want five shows a day!

The famous phrase 'Dinasari Naangu Kaatchigal' may find its way out, as the Tamil Nadu theatre owners association has requested the State government to allow its members to run five shows a day.

Speaking to reporters after a general council meeting of the association in Chennai on Monday, President Abirami Ramanathan said, "These days, many films run for nearly two hours. So it will be helpful if the government allows us to screen five shows daily."

He also urged the government to regulate ticket prices in cinema halls all over the State, and fix the prices according to the grades of the theatres. "We have decided not to charge more than the rates fixed by the government," he said.

Elaborating on the resolutions passed at the meeting, he said the association thanked Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa for giving tax exemption to films with some conditions. He also said there were complaints against few theatres that they were charging exorbitant rates for parking and snacks.

Arya sighted down South!

Actor Arya was spotted at the Madurai airport on Sunday. Dressed in blue jeans, a white shirt, and sporting a pair of stylish glares he looked cool and handsome. He has been shooting down South in various locations for Vettai and once he and Sameera Reddy were mobbed while getting down from the train. Perhaps the actor had that in mind because he was walking fast to make it inside the car waiting for him, before the crowd gathered.

One nervous fan approached him and hesitantly asked permission to take a photo. Arya obliged and posed for the shot. He even tried to get her to overcome her shyness and pose with him for the shot. And then he was off in a flash. But his fan was floored and told all and sundry that he was very polite and really sweet!

Jiiva and Arya team up!

Jiiva has a lot on his plate right now as he is really coming into his own as a commercially viable star. He is busy with a slew of projects slotted for release as well as new films with the likes of Gautham Menon and Jananadhan. In addition to this, he has decided to float a production house with his brother, Jithan Ramesh. Their father RB Choudhary made Super Good Films one of the biggest banners in the South and the brothers are hoping to emulate his success.

The first film they will be producing is Rajesh's next after OKOK with Arya and Jiiva as the leading men. Rajesh has given consecutive hits with these stars. Siva Manasula Sakthi was the hit film he delivered with Jiiva and Boss Engira Baskaran with Arya. So the three of them together make for one awesome combination!

Amal Paul, the malayalee actress who has suddenly become the sweet sensation of the Tami cinema with the big hit 'Maina' had been reported to be planning to act in many Malayalam projects. But somehow the actress could not join the various projects that she was planned to be on, due to the clash of her dates.

The audio of 'Dookudu', directed by Sreenu Vaitla and jointly produced by Ram Achanta, Gopinath Achanta and Anil Sukara on the banner of 14 Reels Entertainment, with Prince Maheshbabu and Samanta in the lead roles is likely to be launched on August 13.

Thaman scored music for the film. The venue for audio release function is yet to be finalised. Shilpa Kala Vedika was tentatively selected for the function.

However, the on-going separate Telangana state agitation, the JAC call for bandh and the disturbances that may occur following the protests are worrying the film unit. Vachadu... Gelichaadu...' audio as I-Day gift

Nayanthara becomes a Hindu!

"Diana is no more, Nayanthara to be known from now on. For some personal reasons I have followed Hinduism", expressed Nayanthara while speaking to her fans.

Nayanthara, who changed her name so for films, is a Christian by birth, and was earlier referred to as Diana Mariam Kurian, before her foray into the film industry. The latest is that, she has changed her religious faith to Hinduism on Sunday morning at a temple in North Chennai. After the rituals at the temple, she was given a certificate of conversion to Hinduism, with her Hindu name as Nayanthara.

Although the actress refused to spill the beans on the reason behind this name change and whether it was a move for her wedding with Prabhu Deva, she expressed that due to personal reasons she has become a Hindu by religion now.

Looks like we will soon hear Nayan - Prabhu's wedding bells ring...

Avenues galore for Karthika

Her first tryst with Tamil films was a roaring success. Starring opposite Jiiva in KV Anand's 'Ko', Karthika had a grand opening as a heroine in the Tamil film industry. Now after her first silver screen success, looks like the budding actress is also open to other avenues apart from acting.

She recently walked the ramp at Kochi for ace fashion designer Sanjana Jon sporting the latter's designer wear. Apart from Karthika a bevy of silver screen beauties like Kangana Ranaut, Mamta Mohandas, and Swetha Menon sashayed the ramp. So did ex-Miss World first runner up Parvathy Omanakuttan.

Apart from posing to innumerable cameras at the fashion event that was held at Kochi, Karthika might also get to play the same role she did in K.V. Anand's 'Ko' in its Bollywood remake, although nothing has been official...

Karthi to do a Telugu film!

Almost all Karthi-starrers ('Paruthi Veeran', 'Aayirathil Oruvan', 'Paiyaa') which were dubbed and released in Telugu were hits. This has made him to act in a straight Tollywood film, which he will be doing soon.

The actor, who was in Hyderabad recently to promote 'Naa Peru Shiva', the Telugu version of 'Naan Mahan Alla', told journalists: "My straight Telugu movie will be directed by Bommarillu fame Bhaskar."

In Kollywood, Karthi, who is back from his honeymoon trip, has started shooting for 'Saguni', a political satire. Directed by Shankar Dayal, a newcomer, 'Saguni' is expected to hit the screens for Deepavali that also marks the actor's Thala Deepavali.

Ram Charan to get engaged soon

Ram Charan has at last found his soulmate. A section of the media have reported that the Chiranjeevi scion is getting engaged to Upasana Kamineni, the daughter of the owners of the Apollo Hospital.

The girl, who is said to be in her early 20s, reportedly owns a health magazine. It has been rumoured that Cherry has been in love with the girl for quite sometime. Despite some sections of the media interminably speaking about their relationship, no categorical confirmation came from either Cherry or any of his aides.

After being tight-lipped for more than a year, Cherry's family has finally decided to tell the world that their scion will tie the knot with his long-time girlfriend. At least, this has been what a newspaper and a news channel have been saying today.

With the news having not been denied so far, it is gaining much credence. Since both Cherry and Chiranjeevi are out of station, an announcement regarding the same is expected upon their return to Hyderabad.

Simbu didn't speak to me: Shriya

Shriya Saran has denied reports appeared in a section of the media that she would do a special number in Silambarasan's 'Osthi'. "There is no truth in that claim. I am not there in Osthi", says the actress.

"I came to know about this offer only after reading media reports", she says and adds: "Simbu has not approached me for Osthi". Earlier there was a buzz that STR initially approached Nayanthara for the number and she turned down the offer.

On her forthcoming Tamil film 'Rowthiram', Shriya says, "I have a big role in Rowthiram. I play a law college student, who is in love with an advocate (Jiiva). It is a strong character and I loved being part of Rowthiram".

"Jiiva and director Gokul are great colleagues. I am hopeful that Rowthiram would be a landmark film in my career and it would do well in the box-office as well. I am ready for more such roles", she concludes.

Deivathirumagal Movie Review-For the Family

Deivathirumagal stars Vikram,Baby Sarah,Anushka,Amala Paul, and Santhanam in the lead roles. Its directed and written by Madrasapattinam fame, A.L Vijay. Music is by G.V Prakash,Cinematography is handled by Nirav Shah, and Edited by Anthony. DTM was also released in Telugu as Nanna.

Story: Nila(Baby Sarah) gets taken away from her father,Krishna(Vikram), by Swetha(Amala Paul) and her father(Sachin Khedekar); because he is a mentally challenged adult. Nila was born to Krishna and Swetha's older sister. How Krishna, and his lawyers: Anuradha(Anushka),Vinod(Santhanam),Priya(Priya) help him gain custody of Nila forms the rest of the story.

Performances: Vikram was outstanding! He had that childish innocence completely in him, we could feel what he was feeling throughout. Its amazing to see him be so flawless in his act.  Sarah is another great performer, totally on par with Vikram in terms of performance, and a cute little thing too. Anushka, this is definitely one of her best performances in Tamil till date, her role had power. Santhanam had a good role too, though comical, his role had scope. Anuska and Santhanam were a nice comedy pair. Amala Paul, her role was a bit small, but she performed well in what she had. But she did seem a bit stiff in some scenes.

Direction: All of us know that DTM is an adaption of the American film I am Sam. But Vijay hasn't taken all the scenes from I am Sam, he has only taken the basic plot. It's Indian to the T. Vijay does a great job in catering everything needed for the family audience, such as comedy, sentiment, a bit of romance, etc. Not to forget, the flow of the movie, everything transitions smoothly, though the song Vizhigalil oru Vanavil didn't seem to be needed. But overall, he has done a nice job.

Cinematography and Editing: Nirav Shah, is one of the most sought after cinematographers in Kollywood, and he lives up to his name in every single movie. Its movies like DTM that make him popular.  He knows exactly when to give what type of tone to which scene. Vizhigalil oru Vanavil ix exceptionally beautiful; Anushka looks gorgeous, so do her surroundings. The credit for the flow of the movie goes to Anthony, his job has been well done, but still a bit iffy on Vizhigalil oru Vanavil.

Music: G.V Prakash, totally steals our hearts with the Background music, exceptionally done. His BGM adds to the emotions of a particular scene, the BGM
itself makes you cry. When it comes to the songs, sadly G.V Prakash has plagiarized two songs: Pa Pa Pappa(Walt Disneys Robhin Hood) and Jagada thorn(Amaan Ali Khan and Ayaan Ali Khan's Truth). Music seems average,my picks are: Vizhigalil oru Vanavil,Pa Pa Pappa,Aariro, and Vennilave.

Pros:

  • Performances
  • Cast
  • Direction/Story
  • Cinematography
  • Editing
  • BGM
  • Some of the Music
  • Family entertainer
  • Vikram and Sarah, workout so well as father and daughter
  • Court Scene at the end

Cons:

  • Vizhigalil oru Vanavil, seemed a bit out of place, wasn't really needed..
  • Plagiarizing of the two songs.
  • Credit hadn't been given to I am Sam, which should happen.

Final Say: Watch it, you WILL cry more than a bucketful, for sure. Its heartbreaking but, touching, the end is a bit unexpected. Watch it for sure! You will not regret it! Take your whole family! :)

Aishwarya Dhanush to debut as director with '3'

Dhanush is a happy man now, first it was the announcement of him bagging a National Award in 'Aadukalam', for his one-of-a-kind performance; then his father-in-law, Rajinikanth, who had taken ill all of a sudden and had gone to Singapore is back to hometown, Chennai, safe and sound.

Now the Dhanush's - hubby and wife Aishwarya Dhanush are devoting all their time for their upcoming project which will be Aishwarya Dhanush's launch pad as director into films. Aishwarya has been concentrating on the script and direction, and is taking care of all aspects to have that picture perfect start as a director.

Now sources close to the film's team have revealed that the film has begun to shoot. The combination shots involving the film's lead pair Dhanush and Amala Paul will begin in less than a week, reveal insiders. The music for this film will be by Anirudh, and Kola Bhasker will be in charge of the editing.

Anirudh will be debuting as music director with this film. He has earlier done a lot of jingles and also lent his musical genius to short films. Another interesting aspect is that while Anirudh was a student he was awarded a prize for being the best instrumentalist in a competition by none other that A.R. Rahman, and Anirudh played the keyboard on that day.

We guess his music should be really watched out for!

The project has been attractively titled '3'. Now will it be called "Three" or "Mundru" or will it just remain a plain numerical "3", and does it have any connection with the characters in the film? These are the many doubts that will storm the minds of Dhanush fans once they get to know about the title.

We will shed light on that when we receive confirmed news from reliable people.

Vishal, the good Samaritan

He is tall, dark and handsome too. His last release has taken is performance in K'town up by many notches. We are discussing 'Walter Vanangamudi' of Bala's 'Avan Ivan' better known to us all as Vishal!

The actor has carved a niche for himself in the slot of excellent artists with his above-mentioned role in director Bala's film.

The actor who is at the moment shooting for Prabhu Deva's upcoming 'Vedi' alongside Sameera Reddy recently came across a news item when his heart went out to the people involved. It was about a woman who had robbed a lady at an ATM at gun point (the only difference, the gun was a toy), claiming that she had robbed to feed her two children who had been foodless for two days.

Vishal reading this story in a popular daily is believed to have contacted his co-star Sameera to help him find out about the whereabouts of this woman who was in police custody in Kolkata.

Sameera seems to have zeroed in on the news provider who has in turn contacted the actor. All the actor now wants to know is if the woman's reason to rob was genuine for if she was faking. If the reason is genuine then Vishal wants to help her children and support them financially.

A man with a heart of gold truly, Vishal is!

It’s not Amala Paul, a newbie bags it

Amala Paul was initially said to play the female lead in Mugamoodi but now she has opted out of it. Instead of Amala, Pooja Hegde has been signed up. Pooja was adjudged as the runner-up in the Miss Universe – India contest held recently.

She will be making her debut in Mugamoodi opposite Jiiva. Narain will play a negative role in this movie. The film is directed by Mysskin and produced by UTV Motion Pictures. K is scoring the music for Mugamoodi.

The shooting of Mugamoodi will commence from September onwards and the director is planning a teaser trailer in the meantime.

Jiiva's trailer!

Cheran and Prasanna's flick, Muran will be having a September release. It was supposed to have been out for the Independence day weekend but things did not pan out for various reasons. However, it has been confirmed that the film will definitely release next month. The leading men are very excited as they both have roles that are far removed from the ordinary.

In an interesting development, the trailer of Mugamoodi, Mysskin's superhero saga with Jiiva and Narain will be airing at the same time. This has become quite the trend recently with a lot of production houses opting for this particular gimmick as a promotional tactic. And it seems to be working.

The Month for Ajith, Suriya, and Vijay Fans!

August is going to be a very happening month for Tamil cinema, with several huge projects lining up for release. Audio launches and movie releases have been scheduled for as many as 13 films in this month alone! Vijay, Ajith, and Suriya films are also a part of this mix.

The past few months have been sluggish for Tamil cinema with hardly any big name films releasing. Insiders have attributed this to the fact that Tamil cinema’s biggest competitor cricket was monopolizing audience attention with the World cup and IPL. So from the beginning big filmmakers wanted their films to have their releases later in the year.

Be that as it may, fans who have been starved for a slice of their favorite stars are in for a treat. Vijay’s Velayudham, Ajith’s Mankatha, and Suriya’s 7am Arivu are likely to have audio launches this month with the view to have a big Diwali release hopefully. Nothing is confirmed but tentative dates for audio launch have been set for August 10th (Mankatha), 15th (Velayudham), and 20th (7am Arivu).

The makers of other films have also confirmed release dates for this month. Doo, Potta Potti, Ramanathapuram, and Singakottai will be screened on August 5th. These films feature fresh talent and are hoping to have a good showing.

Jiiva’s Rowthiram with Shriya is set to release on August 12th. The star is having a great year so his fans are waiting to see his latest offering. The music in this film has been hugely appreciated. Sharing the honors with them will be Sagaakal, Sankaran Koil, and Yuvan.

On August 19th, Mudhal Idam, Puli Vesham, and Theni Mavattam will be releasing. On their heels Kalavani Sargunam’s Vaagai Sooda Vaa with Vimal in the lead which has generated a lot of expectations will be screened on August 26th. Yuva Yuvathi will also release on the same day.

Looks like a super fun month ahead as Tamil cinema fans can sit back and enjoy the latest work of their favorite stars.
