Raktha Charitra 2 Movie Review: Story of Pure Vengeance

I would say one of the Best Telugu movies of all time. WOW. I went thinking it will be one of the most violent films ever seen, it was violent but not so much, that you couldn't take it. RC1&2 had a ton of controversies flying around them because they, were as already known, based on two very powerful people: Paritala Ravi and Maddelacheruvu Suri. What I can say is, RAM GOPAL VARMA IS THE MAN! After 1-2 delays the second part gets released lets see how it is:

Story:
Over the years, Pratap Ravi(Vivek Oberi), becomes a very powerful person, and as said in the movie works for his people. But he murders anyone that comes in his way or anyone that he suspects that WILL come in his way. He ends up killing all of Surya Bhanureddy's(Surya) family, with a TV bomb. Surya is the son of Narsimha Reddy(Kitty), who got killed by Pratap in part 1. Surya was calm when his father got killed because he had his
mother, sister, and brother to take care of, but they are not alive anymore.. Now, he is in complete revenge mode. So he plans a bomb blast, to kill Pratap Ravi,in which he does not succeed in. The people around Pratap get killed but him and some others survive, but they are wounded. DCP Mohan Prasad(Sudeep) is the one investigating the case, he goes to find Surya's wife Bhavani(Priyamani),in which he does. He says a thing about her, which makes Surya surrender to the police. Pratap also knows that it was Surya who tried to murder him, so Pratap tries to kill Surya, when the DCP is taking Surya to court. But doesn't succeed. While Suri is in jail, he becomes friends with Muddhu Krishna(Aezaz Khan). When Muddhu gets out of jail, he helps Surya in killing Pratap while Surya gives him orders, from a mobile Muddhu gave to him. In the meanwhile Swami(Subhaleka Sudhakar) comes to jail and meets Surya and tells him to make his wife, Bhavani to stand in the elections that are coming up in Anandhapur. She gets convinced and she stands, now Pratap's countdown to death starts.....

This is Surya's film, he was THE man of the film, though it was about Vivek's character Paritala Ravi. It was Surya's performance that was THE highlight of the film. He was great, his eyes are his power. Vivek was superb in his role, you end up forgetting that Vivek isn't a Telugu guy, he seems so "Teluguy" like Surya.  The way is face and body language through out the film were very "politicianly" and sly. Priyamani was good in the role she had, though it was small she proved herself once again. Radhika Apte was awesome for a newcomer, no joke. It looked as if she knew Telugu so fluently, cause the lip-sync was so right. Sudeep was apt for his role, same with Aezaz Khan and Subhalekha Sudhkar. But we don't get to see Shatrughan Sinha, much because most of his parts seem to be cut. Same with Zarina Wahab, she didn't have much except for 1-2 scenes. RGV, for sure made the right choices in terms of casting.

Ram Gopal Varma, should be appreciated for bringing a true story to the silver screen. The movie was so intense, didn't have unnecessary stuff to it like item songs, comedy, love songs, etc. Because they were all not needed for a thriller/biopic like this.Every scene was in the right position,no need to switch anything around. The dialogue writer should be applauded for the dialogues that he has wrote which were powerful, yet emotional. Here is some:
The music had a gory feeling to it which was totally needed. The lyrics were what poured life into the songs like : Kaathulatho Savasam,Doorkithe,Gundello,Aata Ipudu and Kodani Dee. What was special about them was, they were situational songs, which added emotions and intensity to the film and each part. But in all, awesome,Dharam-Sandeep, Sukhwindher Singh, Imran-Vikram, and , Bapi-Tuttu.

There is no Protagonist or Antagonist in the film cause everyone is a murderer in the film. This part was Surya's while the first part was Vivek's.

My Thoughts

I think this movie deserves a bunch of awards, I mean wow! What a movie! I really loved Surya's acting in the movie, proved himself once again. :) Vivek was great awesome!!! The cast seriously rocked! RGV was very brave to bring the story between Paritala Ravi-Suri to the big screen, he got so many threats during the shoot of RC. Though there are some factual errors in the film, they can be passed,as long as the main idea is gotten which is: Paritala killed Suri's father cause he killed Paritalas father, and Suri killed Paritala cause he killed his family.

I liked all the characters, but the character of Muddhu Krishna also stood out to me, cause when Surya tells his story Muddhu tears, up which can mean that criminals have hearts too. :) Radhika was at her best in the part where she confronts Vivek, of what he is about to do is wrong, she rocked, loved that part! :)

The scenes between Surya and Priyamani was admirable, truly loved their pair. Hope they act in other movies together :) Surya's entry scene was so freakin cool :) It was different to see Priyamani as a mother and wife but, she was great in it.

Excellent Scenes (not in order):
1. Where Bhavani asks Surya if he wants to marry her.
2. Surya asks Bhavani days later if she wants to marry him.
3.Surya gives his younger bro a lesson on why he shouldn't take revenge for his  fathers death.
4.Surya is silent when Pratap does all the murders.
5.Nandhini confronts Pratap.
6.One of Prataps side kicks dies and Pratap gets a call, and after that his emotions at that scene.
7.Pratap telling Nandhini to get in the car behind him.
8.Swami asking Surya to let ask his wife to stand in the elections
9.Surya convincing Bhavani to stand in the elections.

10.Bhavani standing in the elections.
11. The scene towards the end when Surya is driving the car (mixed emotions)
12.The bomb blast scene in the beginning/Surya's entry
13.Pratap's scenes in the hospital
14. The climax
15. The last scene between Surya and DCP Mohan Prasad, ( towards the end)
16. Every single scene with Surya
17.Every single scene with Vivek
18. The court scene towards the beginning
19.The scene where Pratap comes to see Surya in jail
20. The scenes between Surya-Bhavani and Pratap-Nandhini
21. Surya sees his family in his house after the bomb blast and how he reacts.
22.Bhavani sees Surya in jail for thee 1st time.
23.1st scene between the DCP and Surya
24. Surya hears about Bhavani's campaigning
25.Scene between Sudeep and Pratap in the hospital.
26.The whole movie :D

For some reason they didn't show the part where they tonsure supposedly Pawan Kalyan, which I think was just to cut down on the controversies.

Before I watched the movie, I actually read about Paritala Ravi and Suri, and I was shocked. It was pretty crazy to see stuff like that and read about it. The movie for me was an eye opener, cause we see it fictionally in fiction movies, but this was a biopic, something that really happened! Scary and Shocking. I was pretty disturbed after I saw the movie, I really wanted to know more about those two,it was just freaky.....

I first thought this movie was going to be extremely violent, but I didn't think it was when I saw it. Except for the really loud sound everything was fine,it was the sound that built up the tension. But, I think Raktha Charitra 1 was more violent than this, to watch.

I loved the intensity and goriness of the music! It was soo realistic, and I liked how it was so situational. :)

Us, South Indians, have seen this type of violence before, but it would be a shock for the people in the North who see this. There rarely are movies like this for them.

I actually liked the slow motion that was added to the film, though it was highly criticized by others. I think it added to the suspense and tension. But I thought RGV's voice over was unnecessary in A LOT of the scenes, it kind of started to get annoying. For example, the part where is voice over comes in when Sudeep is interrogating this guy, and he is telling the truth of who planned the bomb blast. Everyone was laughing at that scene in the theater, as much as I loved the movie, it wad hilarious! :D

I learned that Revenge can take you to ANY extent, put yourself in the shoes of Suri. Or even Paritala, because I bet he was scared every second someone was going to kill him. Just freaky....

I really liked this film, one of the best Telugu films ever made I must say, also one of my favorite films. Mostly for Surya's great acting ,and the direction. RGV ROCKS! I feel I can say: Telugu Cinema is back! Thank You RGV :)

Bottom Line: Watch it for the great performances and the story
Rating: 3.5-4/5
