Ramgopal Varma Upset!

The director of Rakht Charithra 1 & 2, Ram Gopal Varma is so upset after the assassination of Suri (Gangula Suryanarayana Reddy) in Andhra, so much so that he dropped the plan to shoot the third part of Rakht Charithra. Sources reveal that he was shocked to hear the news about Suri’s assassination. The film Rakht Charithra is loosely based on the life of Paritala Ravin a gangster-politician who was assassinated by his rivals in Andhra Pradesh in 2005. The film featured Vivek Oberoi as Ravindra in the lead role, whilst Suriya, who appears predominantly in the second part, played Suri.

Raktha Charitra 2 Movie Review: Story of Pure Vengeance

I would say one of the Best Telugu movies of all time. WOW. I went thinking it will be one of the most violent films ever seen, it was violent but not so much, that you couldn't take it. RC1&2 had a ton of controversies flying around them because they, were as already known, based on two very powerful people: Paritala Ravi and Maddelacheruvu Suri. What I can say is, RAM GOPAL VARMA IS THE MAN! After 1-2 delays the second part gets released lets see how it is:

Story:
Over the years, Pratap Ravi(Vivek Oberi), becomes a very powerful person, and as said in the movie works for his people. But he murders anyone that comes in his way or anyone that he suspects that WILL come in his way. He ends up killing all of Surya Bhanureddy's(Surya) family, with a TV bomb. Surya is the son of Narsimha Reddy(Kitty), who got killed by Pratap in part 1. Surya was calm when his father got killed because he had his
mother, sister, and brother to take care of, but they are not alive anymore.. Now, he is in complete revenge mode. So he plans a bomb blast, to kill Pratap Ravi,in which he does not succeed in. The people around Pratap get killed but him and some others survive, but they are wounded. DCP Mohan Prasad(Sudeep) is the one investigating the case, he goes to find Surya's wife Bhavani(Priyamani),in which he does. He says a thing about her, which makes Surya surrender to the police. Pratap also knows that it was Surya who tried to murder him, so Pratap tries to kill Surya, when the DCP is taking Surya to court. But doesn't succeed. While Suri is in jail, he becomes friends with Muddhu Krishna(Aezaz Khan). When Muddhu gets out of jail, he helps Surya in killing Pratap while Surya gives him orders, from a mobile Muddhu gave to him. In the meanwhile Swami(Subhaleka Sudhakar) comes to jail and meets Surya and tells him to make his wife, Bhavani to stand in the elections that are coming up in Anandhapur. She gets convinced and she stands, now Pratap's countdown to death starts.....

This is Surya's film, he was THE man of the film, though it was about Vivek's character Paritala Ravi. It was Surya's performance that was THE highlight of the film. He was great, his eyes are his power. Vivek was superb in his role, you end up forgetting that Vivek isn't a Telugu guy, he seems so "Teluguy" like Surya.  The way is face and body language through out the film were very "politicianly" and sly. Priyamani was good in the role she had, though it was small she proved herself once again. Radhika Apte was awesome for a newcomer, no joke. It looked as if she knew Telugu so fluently, cause the lip-sync was so right. Sudeep was apt for his role, same with Aezaz Khan and Subhalekha Sudhkar. But we don't get to see Shatrughan Sinha, much because most of his parts seem to be cut. Same with Zarina Wahab, she didn't have much except for 1-2 scenes. RGV, for sure made the right choices in terms of casting.

Ram Gopal Varma, should be appreciated for bringing a true story to the silver screen. The movie was so intense, didn't have unnecessary stuff to it like item songs, comedy, love songs, etc. Because they were all not needed for a thriller/biopic like this.Every scene was in the right position,no need to switch anything around. The dialogue writer should be applauded for the dialogues that he has wrote which were powerful, yet emotional. Here is some:
The music had a gory feeling to it which was totally needed. The lyrics were what poured life into the songs like : Kaathulatho Savasam,Doorkithe,Gundello,Aata Ipudu and Kodani Dee. What was special about them was, they were situational songs, which added emotions and intensity to the film and each part. But in all, awesome,Dharam-Sandeep, Sukhwindher Singh, Imran-Vikram, and , Bapi-Tuttu.

There is no Protagonist or Antagonist in the film cause everyone is a murderer in the film. This part was Surya's while the first part was Vivek's.

My Thoughts:

I think this movie deserves a bunch of awards, I mean wow! What a movie! I really loved Surya's acting in the movie, proved himself once again. :) Vivek was great awesome!!! The cast seriously rocked! RGV was very brave to bring the story between Paritala Ravi-Suri to the big screen, he got so many threats during the shoot of RC. Though there are some factual errors in the film, they can be passed,as long as the main idea is gotten which is: Paritala killed Suri's father cause he killed Paritalas father, and Suri killed Paritala cause he killed his family.

I liked all the characters, but the character of Muddhu Krishna also stood out to me, cause when Surya tells his story Muddhu tears, up which can mean that criminals have hearts too. :) Radhika was at her best in the part where she confronts Vivek, of what he is about to do is wrong, she rocked, loved that part! :)

The scenes between Surya and Priyamani was admirable, truly loved their pair. Hope they act in other movies together :) Surya's entry scene was so freakin cool :) It was different to see Priyamani as a mother and wife but, she was great in it.

Excellent Scenes (not in order):
1. Where Bhavani asks Surya if he wants to marry her.
2. Surya asks Bhavani days later if she wants to marry him.
3.Surya gives his younger bro a lesson on why he shouldn't take revenge for his  fathers death.
4.Surya is silent when Pratap does all the murders.
5.Nandhini confronts Pratap.
6.One of Prataps side kicks dies and Pratap gets a call, and after that his emotions at that scene.
7.Pratap telling Nandhini to get in the car behind him.
8.Swami asking Surya to let ask his wife to stand in the elections
9.Surya convincing Bhavani to stand in the elections.

10.Bhavani standing in the elections.
11. The scene towards the end when Surya is driving the car (mixed emotions)
12.The bomb blast scene in the beginning/Surya's entry
13.Pratap's scenes in the hospital
14. The climax
15. The last scene between Surya and DCP Mohan Prasad, ( towards the end)
16. Every single scene with Surya
17.Every single scene with Vivek
18. The court scene towards the beginning
19.The scene where Pratap comes to see Surya in jail
20. The scenes between Surya-Bhavani and Pratap-Nandhini
21. Surya sees his family in his house after the bomb blast and how he reacts.
22.Bhavani sees Surya in jail for thee 1st time.
23.1st scene between the DCP and Surya
24. Surya hears about Bhavani's campaigning
25.Scene between Sudeep and Pratap in the hospital.
26.The whole movie :D

For some reason they didn't show the part where they tonsure supposedly Pawan Kalyan, which I think was just to cut down on the controversies.

Before I watched the movie, I actually read about Paritala Ravi and Suri, and I was shocked. It was pretty crazy to see stuff like that and read about it. The movie for me was an eye opener, cause we see it fictionally in fiction movies, but this was a biopic, something that really happened! Scary and Shocking. I was pretty disturbed after I saw the movie, I really wanted to know more about those two,it was just freaky.....

I first thought this movie was going to be extremely violent, but I didn't think it was when I saw it. Except for the really loud sound everything was fine,it was the sound that built up the tension. But, I think Raktha Charitra 1 was more violent than this, to watch.

I loved the intensity and goriness of the music! It was soo realistic, and I liked how it was so situational. :)

Us, South Indians, have seen this type of violence before, but it would be a shock for the people in the North who see this. There rarely are movies like this for them.

I actually liked the slow motion that was added to the film, though it was highly criticized by others. I think it added to the suspense and tension. But I thought RGV's voice over was unnecessary in A LOT of the scenes, it kind of started to get annoying. For example, the part where is voice over comes in when Sudeep is interrogating this guy, and he is telling the truth of who planned the bomb blast. Everyone was laughing at that scene in the theater, as much as I loved the movie, it wad hilarious! :D

I learned that Revenge can take you to ANY extent, put yourself in the shoes of Suri. Or even Paritala, because I bet he was scared every second someone was going to kill him. Just freaky....

I really liked this film, one of the best Telugu films ever made I must say, also one of my favorite films. Mostly for Surya's great acting ,and the direction. RGV ROCKS! I feel I can say: Telugu Cinema is back! Thank You RGV :)

Bottom Line: Watch it for the great performances and the story
Rating: 3.5-4/5

Rakht Charitra 2: Bollywood applauds Suriya’s performance

If there is one Kollywood actor who likes to experiment with different get ups on screen, it is Suriya, the model hero of Kollywood.

With his humble manner, soft-spoken approach and very versatile career in cinema, he has impressed and inspired the younger and older generation alike. And with Ram Gopal Varma’s Rakht Charitra 2, Suriya is all set for his big Bollywood entry! The actor has left no stone unturned to promote the film which he believes is a milestone in his career.
After seeing the film, the whole of Bollywood has appreciated the actor for his intense performance. Suriya has definitely taken the front seat in the sequel to create an ambiance of implosive violence through his expressive eyes.

“The focus is on South superstar Suriya. He delivers, without doubt, one of the most aggressive and forceful performances Hindi cinema has witnessed this year.I am sure Suriya will woo not just his Tamil fans with his tremendous performance, but also find a new audience base with RAKHT CHARITRA 2: The Hindi movie-going audience. Southern superstar Suriya is a welcome addition to the ranks of A-list heroes in the Hindi film industry,” Bollywood reviewer Taran Adarsh said in his review.

So in the world of Khans and Kapoors, let's see how Suriya rises! We wish him all the very best!

There may be 'Ratha Charithiram-2'

'Ratha Charitiram' has released and this dramatic tale has seen good critical response coming it's way. This also brings to an end a year long journey for Ram Gopal Varma for whom it was a big logistical challenge to make the film.
Though in Tamil we had one version, the two parts film was a trilingual that was shot in Hindi, Telugu as well as Tamil. It was presented as a two part film in Hindi and Telugu so that Ramu could justify his key protagonists.
"When you make a biopic, there are lot of things happening in a man's life", he explains, "In the first part, I wanted to set context and give a foundation to why Vivek's character had to become the way it turned out to be eventually. All his issues and conflicts were settled there."
"Now in the second part, it is about Suriya coming in who has his own issues and conflicts to settle. It could well be a vicious circle but I have tried to wrap it up all in two parts", says Ramu.

Well, it could well be a vicious circle, considering the way 'Ratha Charithiram' has wrapped up. After all the last shot of 'Ratha Charithiram' show an infant on his mother's lap. With all the killings happening around him for decades in succession, it is clear by the time end credits start rolling that there would perhaps never be an end to it.
It may not be surprising if there is Part 2 of 'Ratha Charithiram' on the anvil as well. Can we expect one, Ramu? And Suriya also?

Random Post: Songs Im Addicted to Right NOW

This weekend I was a sorta free so I got to listen to a couple of new songs which were from Engeyum Kaadhal, Aadukalam, and the Rakht Charitra ( Hindi). I also listened to one song from Prithvi's The Thriller : Priyankari. AND I instantly fell in LOVE with it :D Engeyum Kaadhal is not my kind of music at all, its westernized a lot and its sorta classic-y, though I loved the songs from the Telugu movie Orange, EK was not my cup of tea. Also one of the songs is copied from Micheal Jackson.. so, not cool. Aadukalam was the best album from Tamil this weekend :D enjoyed it thoroughly! :) Here are my songs this weekend ( In order of addiction)  :

1. Paisewala- Rakht Charitra

2. Mila To Marega-Rakht Charitra

3. Khaul Khaul Ke-Rakht Charitra

4. Ayyayo-Aadukalam

5.Yathe Yathe- Aadukalam

6. Priyankari - The Thriller

RC-2 release postponed once again

The controversial film directed by Ram Gopal Varma, ‘Rakta Charitra’ had hit the screen recently and made a handsome business. It is also running successfully in different areas of the state.

As the story of the film is quite lengthy, the director had decided to release the film in two parts and the second part was expected to be released in November. This is because the audiences could still recollect the earlier story and would rush to the theatres for the second version.

However, the distributors and producer C Kalyan appealed to the director to postpone it further as the first version is still running with packed theatres in some areas. Succumbing to their pressure, the release was postponed once and the director announced the latest release date as November 19.

However, the release was put off till December 3 due to some other reasons. The producers claim that they need some more time to promote their film through trailers and other such activities to make it more interesting and attractive. Will the director agree for yet another postponement and release the film on December 3 or stick to his word for an early release had to be seen.

New twist to Rakta Charitra story!

New twist to Rakta Charitra story! Ram Gopal Varma can now add a new twist to the story of the second part of Rakta Charitra, based on the real life story of Paritala Ravi! The Andhra Pradesh police arrested Paritala Ravis close aide and former Naxalite leader Pothula Suresh on Friday afternoon in Surat, Gujarat. Known to be working on a plot to murder Maddelacheruvu Suri, the prime accused in Paritalas murder, Pothula Suresh had gone underground after the murder of Paritala Ravi in 2004. We have taken Pothula Suresh into custody and he would be produced in a local court probably tomorrow, Anantapur Superintendent of Police Manish Kumar Sinha said on Friday. Suresh is wanted in 16 criminal cases in Anantapur district, including 7-8 murder cases, the police officer said, adding, He allegedly masterminded the killing of Congress MLA S. Chenna Reddy. Suresh is an accused in 7-8 murder cases since 1994 and was absconding since 2004. Asked where Suresh was arrested, the SP declined to give any details on security grounds. Due to security issues, we cannot reveal the details from where Suresh was nabbed, he said. Sources, however, said Suresh was nabbed from Surat city and a special police team from Anantapur took him into custody. Definitely the arrest gives a new angle to whole story of Rakta Charitra.

Censor gives ‘A’ to RGV’s Rakta Charitra

Ramgopal Varma, who is in the thick of controversies, submitted his latest trilingual film, ‘Rakta Charitra’, which was simultaneously made in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi languages, for censor certification.
The Andhra Pradesh State Board of Film Certification aka Censor Board awarded ‘A’ certificate on the expected lines.
RGV himself claimed that it was highly action-oriented film with lots of bloodshed. As the board objected to use the word Anantapuram in the film, the makers changed it to Anandapuram.
According to RGV’s posting in Twitter, the film is slated for release on October 21. The entire film unit is planning to go to Anantapur to watch the film along with the audiences on the first day to note down the reaction from them.
Basically the film was made with the real life incidents that led to the murder of Paritala Ravindra and the factional violence that is marring the region for quite few decades.
Vivek Oberoi, Suriya, Priyamani are playing the lead roles in the film. As the length of the film was quite long, the producer cum director is planning to release the film in two parts in a gap of one month or 50 days.
The Hindi version is expected to be released one day latter, i.e., on October 22.

Raktha Charitra,Uthamaputhiran, and Action Replyy Micro music reviews!

I totally got inspired from Louella to do these micro/mini reviews :D In this post Im going to write small music reviews of Raktha Charitra(Telugu),Uthamaputhiran(Tamil), and Action Replayy(Hindi).
1. Raktha Charitra
Music is by Dharam-Sandeep,Sukwinder Singh-Bapi-Tuttal,Imran Vikram,Vijay Kurakula. Wow! The lyrics of each song are very powerful! They talk about violence in almost every single song! You don't have to violent to like the songs, like the Raktha Charitra people said to me on twitter. :) They sound more like revenge type songs/music. My favs/picks are Gundello and Dorkithe Chastavu. The lyrics really enrage you, again very powerful.

(Click Play to play the songs)

Please Do vist the offical website: http://www.rgvraktacharitra.com/home.html

2.Uthamaputhiran
Vijay Antony proves his talent AGAIN! :D Awesomely insane songs he has come up with! :D Great beats and everything! The songs of Uthamaputhiran seem better than Ready, but then again I shouldn't say that since they are different languages. DSP did a good job for the Telugu audience, while Vijay Antony did a good job for the Tamil audience. My favs/picks are Ussume Laresay and Idicha Pacharsi, two very awesome songs! They are like dance party numbers. But Oh my gosh! Ussume Laresay is soo addicting! Idicha Pacharsi sounds like a marriage type song. :)

3.Action Replayy
Okay, now I know Action Replayy isn't a South Indian movie, except the fact that Ash is South Indian.:D Listened to it for Ash and because I seemed to be out of the world of Bollywood. :) Anyways, I hope y'all know that Action Replayy sort of takes place in the 1970s :) So most of the tunes give you a feel of the 1970s :) But Awesome songs! Hats off to Pritam! He has come up with very "Groovy" tunes! :D My Faves/Picks are Zor Ka Jathka and I Am Dog Gone Crazy, even the remixes are great! :D Im actually looking forward to watch the movie :D
Couldn't find the songs to embed :( BUT click here to listen to them! :D Action Replayy Songs

RGV talks about 'Raththa Charithiram'

Ram Gopal Varma has no hesitations to say that his upcoming film 'Raththa Charithiram', which has Suriya and Vivek Oberoi in the lead, will be filled with realism and violence.

"It is not just my most violent film ever, but it will be the most violent film that you will ever see", the famed director said in an interview. "But I am not a violent person in real life. I am a very soft guy", he added.

Simultaneously made in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu, the trilingual is a biopic on the life of Paritala Ravi, a slained political leader from Andhra Pradesh. Vivek is essaying the role of Ravi, while Suriya will be seen as his rival Suri.

Recently, the music of the film to be distributed by Dhayanidhi Alagiri was released in Chennai. Ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam launched the audio and handed over the first copy of the CD to Bollywood veteran Shatrughan Sinha.

Tune into ‘Rakta Charitra’ from Sept 26

Ram Gopal Varma’s most-talked trilingual (Telugu-Hindi-Tamil) project ‘Rakta Charitra’ is waiting to show itself on Oct 22nd. While we are waiting for the film to come on big screens, looks like we have to be satisfied with Raktha Charitra’s music for the time being…

Latest update from the movie’s front is that its audio will be released tomorrow that is on September 26th in Hyderabad. The music is done by Mani Sharma, who was in fact initiated by Ramu to take up the composing work. Madhura Music reported to have got the audio rights.

Interestingly, RGV has also rendered his voice for a track, but only for the Telugu version and the song goes like - "Katthulatho saavaasam... Netthutitho samaaptham". On the other hand, remaining songs will mostly be pure background scores. Among them is said to be a re-worked version of “Govinda Govinda”, the popular track of ‘Sarkar’ and ‘Sarkar Raj’.

Surya Says its Tough

f reports are to be believed, Suriya has declined to dub for the Ram Gopal Varma directed Raktha Charithra. The actor had reportedly told the director that he should use someone’s voice that will get the accent right.

Suriya, it was said, was learning the language to get the right dialect but decided not to dub as he felt that it would not be perfect.

RGV is now, apparently in a fix, but may look out for an alternate source to complete the dubbing process.

Raktha Charithra is a multilingual film which also has Bollywood star Vivek Oberoi sharing the screen space with Suriya.

Surya Clarifies

Surya clears confusion about his career:

Suriya Clarifies

Suriya, who is making his debut in Bollywood with Ram Gopal Varma's 'Raktha Charithra', has said that his focus would always be on south Indian films.

"If I get roles that excite me I will surely do movies in Bollywood. But my preference is always south and I will not stop doing films in Tamil," the actor has said.

Thrilled about working with RGV, he said, "I feel Raktha Charithra would be a perfect launch pad for me in Bollywood. He (RGV) is one of the finest filmmakers and it was my longtime desire to work with him."

Based on the life of slain Andhra Pradesh political leader Paritala Ravindra, the film also has Vivek Oberoi and Priyamani in pivotal roles. "Vivek is a comfortable colleague. I enjoyed working with him," said Suriya. The film is made in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil languages.
