Hardly two days after he said that a song in ‘Manmadhan Ambu’, which was opposed by a few organisations, would not be deleted from the movie, Kamal Haasan on Monday said the song would be dropped.
The ace actor however gave an explanation to the decision. “Had the film been produced by my company, I would not have removed the song in the hope that it would be accepted by all,” he said.
In a statement, Kamal added: “To ensure that the film is loved by every section of the society, he and the production company (Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Movies) had decided to remove the song.”
He claimed the song, cleared by the Censor board, had been widely welcomed by public. “The song was not, in any way, intended to hurt religious sentiments,” Kamal said. The number, ‘Kannodu Kannai…’ was sung by Kamal himself with actor Trisha.
