Manju Warrier, Samyuktha, back in a Mammotty film

This has been the question that had been aired in most of the interviews with the  filmy celebrities.Dileep and Biju menon would have answered it for at least a hundred times in the last five years. Yes, This is also a news that Malayalees, all around the world, had been awaiting for a long time.

You have picked it right. The favourite ever green heroines of Mollywod, Manju Warrier and Samyuktha varma who were resting in their roles of housewives, away from filmdom, will be back on screen in a short while.  They will be playing the heroines in their comeback movie to none other than Megastar Mammootty. What to hear more? This will be a project to be  directed by Laljose. And Dileep will be the producer of the project under the banner of his own Grand productions.Add to that , Dileep and Biju Menon will also appear in other important roles in the movie.....Altogether this project of surprises is going to be a family affair, that will take off in a short while.

Mamootty had never appeared with these two talented heroines in any of their films and the megastar has shared this  feeling with Dileep and Bijumenon ,many times. Both these actors were recently seen together endorsing the Kavya Madhavan movie 'Ghaddhama'.  It seems that it was all these talks which finally ended up in a movie project. It is heard that laljose will use the time that he has got after the wrapping of the  movie 'Cousins' with Mohanlal and Prithviraj, for the preproduction works of this new project. We were in a hurry to keep you updated  with those wonderful developments and so watch this space for  details about the cast and crew, that will be out soon.

Also pray to Almighty for making  this project a reality, than becoming another one on paper that may get shelved after some reports. And if it happens, this is sure to be one movie that will be eagerly watched out for its great performances for all lead stars, which may make the stars and the Mollywood  proud like never before.

A steady Mammootty in 2010

The gone year was the 31st year of Mammookka's  acting career and in fact his 27th year on super stardom. But the fact
remains that he is still the most disciplined , steady and professional actor ever to have witnessed in Mollywood. He had
nine films(the highest in recent years) in 2010 of which two had him in special appearances.

The only megastar of Mollywood created the year's biggest hit in Vysakh's 'Pokkiriraja', which amassed a profit of 5
crores from various circuits. But his  movie which was much talked about was Renjith's  'Pranchiyettan and the Saint' which
was noted for his meticulous performance and also for his careful selection of subject.

The movie not only was the critics favourite but also continues in three theatres in major centres even after 110 days,
becoming a big hit.The other success story from the star was of ' Best Actor' which was his year end release. His big art
house movie with Shaji N karun 'Kuttyshranku' was also released last year to much critical acclaim.

Three movies that didn't work for the actor in 2010 were shaji Kailas's ‘Drona2010', 'Pramani' with B Unnikrishnan and
'Vandematharam' a bilingual, which was a big failure in both the languages.

2010 also saw Mammootty adorning two D.Litt Degrees conferred by University of Kerala and University of Calicut for his
contributions to cinema. The year also had him narrowly missing the National award for his performance in films of 2009.
But he was bestowed with many awards including the State award for the best actor.

Mammootty was also selected as the Most Favourite Keralite in many surveys conducted by various media in 2010.
In 2011, Malayalees will see him in movies like Shikaari, August15, Doubles, and 'Mathilukalkkappuram'.

Each of the films had Mammootty playing the role of a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officer, who along with his
team solves a crime when the local police fails to crack the case.K Madhu and crew are yet to finalise the  name of the

'Pokkiriraja' is the biggest in 2010

As 2010 is finally drawing to a close, the winner at the Box office is clear. 'Pokkiriraja', the debut film from Vysakh, featuring Mammootty and Prithviraj is undoubtedly the biggest hit of the year in Mollywood. The movie which was made with a budget of 6.25 crores including print and publicity, (75 lakhs for print and publicity) has raked in an income of 10.7 crores to its producer Tomichan Mulakupadam, from various sources. The movie got 2.3 crores as satellite rights while the producer share came to around 6.3 crores.

Apart from Pokkrirraja, the other big hits of the year include 'Happy Husbands' from Saji Surendran, 'Pappy Appacha' from Dileep directed by debutante Mamas, 'Prachiyettan and the Saint' by Renjith, 'In Ghosthouse Inn' by Lal and 'Elsamma enna Aankutty' by Laljose. All these movies managed a 100-day run in city centres and made profits for their producers.

There is a big list of hit movies, this year including Mohanlal's 'Shikkar' directed by Padmakumar,'Malarvady Arts Club' by Vineeth Sreenivasan,'Karyasthan' by Thomson, ' Apoorva Raagam' by Sibi Malayil, 'Mummy and me' by Jithu Joseph, 'Katha thudarunnu' by Sathyan Anthikkad,'Marykkundoru Kunjaadu 'by Shafi, 'Best actor' directed by Martin Prakkat,'Bodyguard' by Siddhique, 'Cocktail' by Arun kumar and 'Sakudumbam Shyamala' by Radhakrishanan Managalathu.(the last two getting into the list due to their low cost of production)

The upset flops of the year includes Saji surendran's 'Four friends', Mohanlal's 'Alexander the great', and Mammootty's 'Vande Matharam'.The biggest number of flops came from Suresh Gopi and Vinoo Mohan whose films not even managed to make a good start in 2010.

Mammootty's 'Raavu Maayumbol'

G S Vijayan has titled his comeback movie with Megastar Mammootty as 'Raavu Maayumbol'. Scripted and produced by Renjith under the banner of his Capitol Theatre, the movie will feature Revathi in the female lead.

Renjith-Mammootty combo has been exceptional in recent times after the movie ‘Kaiyoppu’. Their recent films like 'Palery Manickyam', 'Kerala Cafe' and 'Pranchiyettan and the Saint' were well received by critics and masses alike.

Few will also remember that it was Mammootty who had brought the young director in G S Vijayan through his debut movie 'Charithram' in the late eighties. Their after the duo hasn't come together for any other films.

M and M fans fight it out--( This is pretty stupid)

At last, the inevitable has happened. The big fans of the big M's of Malayalam has gone for a real physical fight at a theatre premises at Aluva. The ground was of Matha theater complex where Mammootty's 'Best Actor' and Mohanlal's latest 'Kandahaar' are being screened.

The fight really took off as a section of Mohanlal fans tried to promote the Lal movie with an LCD projector. The fight scenes continued for some time creating havoc and traffic jam in the adjacent road.

Few were injured when the police finally arrived at the scene to take control of the situation and arrested a few. This is the first time in Kerala, when the fan worship has turned into real physical fights.

Bhavana with Mammootty

Busy young actor Bhavana, will for the first time come up as Mammootty’s heroine in the new movie ‘Doubles’. But don’t expect this to be a full time role. Bhavana will be in a cameo in ‘Doubles’ who appear in the hero’s dreams as the face of his heroine.
The big reason is that Tapsee, who is Mammukka’s heroine in the movie, will be appearing wearing a Purdah for majority of the portions and so as Mammukkas’ character doesn’t see the actual face of Tapsee, he dreams her as someone who looks like Bhavana.
Though the role is just a cameo, Bhavana is more than thrilled to be with Mammootty, particularly in a song sequence set to music by ‘Subramaniapuram’ fame James Vasanthan. The actress had earlier played Mammukka’s sister in the movie ‘Chronic Bachelor’ which came up almost seven years ago.
'Doubles' is directed by Sohan Seenulal has Nadia Moithu and Mammootty playing non identical twins.
