'Ko' goes with Shahid or Ranbir?

The kind of magic that KV Anand's 'Ko' created among audience need not be talked about for movie buffs are still smitten by this Jiiva starrer. 'Ko' released this summer and starred Jiiva, Ajmal, Piaa Bajpai and Karthika in lead roles and the movie was an instant hit, what with the unique script and perfect composition of elements in this commercial thriller.

We had earlier reported to you that although many Hindi filmmakers were eyeing on this film and were willing to offer some whooping price for the remake rights of this film, it was Akshay Kumar who bagged it.

Although it was said that Akshay Kumar will don the role of Jiiva in the Hindi version, grapevine is now abuzz that Shahid Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor are being considered for this role, whereas Ajmal will mark his entry in the same role he played in the original, that of an aspiring politician.

However, an official announcement is yet to be made on this front. Do post your comments on who do you think will fit well for this role...

Despite a heavy competition from the original Telugu films like '100% Love', 'Veera', 'Badrinath' and '180' and dubbed films like 'Vaadu Veedu', the film withstood it and successfully completed a 50-day run and is aiming to complete 100 days.

Noticing huge response to the film, the producers decided to release the film in Telugu too, as both Jeeva and Karthika are famous among the Telugu audiences as well.

S Kumar and R Jayaraman of Super Good Movies have come forward to dub the film in Telugu. It is not a joke that a dubbed Telugu film evoking such a huge response.

The film is earning good revenues and running with near houseful collections in many theatres across the state. Interestingly, from this weekend, eight more theatres are added for the film in Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

Not just in Capital city, in many rural towns, the film is still running to good crowd and is the first option for many moviegoers. The film had almost collected decent revenue in Telugu bringing profits to the producers.

It is learnt that the film is now getting ready to be remade in Hindi too with Akshay Kumar as hero and Karthika is making her debut as heroine in Bollywood with this movie.

Akshay Kumar's Ko

Akshay Kumar is very excited about his remake of Ko and is putting together a team as quickly as possible. RS Infotainment and Fox will be producing this venture jointly. Daredevil that Akshay is, he loved the stunts in Ko and wants to do the same on a larger scale in his version.

Anthony D'Souza aka Tony will be wielding the directorial baton. He had formerly worked with Akshay in the debacle Blue. Word is that AR Rahman will be doing the score. Karthika might be the heroine but that bit of news is awaiting confirmation. There is no word on who will do Piaa's part.

KV Anand goes to Tollywood

KV Anand’s 'Ko' is a landmark venture for not just Jeeva, raising him to a star status, but also for filmmaker KV Anand. KV started off as a director through 'Kana Kanden' that saw huge success, his second movie 'Ayan' with Surya was yet another blockbuster that took us into the details of smuggling through a racy commercial entertainer.

His is his third venture 'Ko' broke all the records and is one of the biggest box-office hits. After watching 'Ko' one would definitely agree that KV ventures into the depth of any subject and highlights even upon the minuscule details.

'Ko' has fetched much acclaim from all over; we had earlier told you that Bollywood star Akshay Kumar is remaking the movie in Hindi.

Now the latest is that, one of the young top-notch heroes in Telugu, Junior NTR came to meet director KV Anand without even any prior notice, while the latter was busy with the pre-production work of 'Maatraan'!

Junior NTR who has achieved a godly status for his dance among fans, was all praise for KV's latest venture 'Ko.'

Not just that, Junior NTR requested KV Anand to do a Telugu film with the actor to which KV agreed immediately and narrated a script then and there. Junior NTR who fell in love with the script agreed to do the film.

The duo will be coming up with a Telugu movie after KV finishes up with 'Maatraan.'

'Rangam' draws splendid collections

Rangam , directed by Tamil director K V Anand, received positive reviews but it took time to pick up the collections. As the film's hero Jiva was relatively new to Telugu audiences, the film was a slow starter at Box-office. But good reviews and word-of-mouth helped the film and is now running to packed houses in many areas especially in Hyderabad.

In its 5th week, the movie is running in more than 10 theaters in the twin cities. Happy with the film's result, Mega SuperGood movies is soon planning a mega success event in Hyderabad that would be attended by all the cast and crew.

Ko Tamil Movie Review - MUST WATCH

So much hype was around Ko, because of K.V Anand's Blockbuster,Ayan, and because of a couple of casting discrepancies. Movie Lovers were counting on him to score another Blockbuster. Guess What? Well he sure did :)
Ko means King in Old Tamil:
Cast:
Jiiva
Karthika
Pia Bajpal
Ajmal Ameer
Direction:
K.V Anand
Written by:
K.V Anand
Subha
Music Direction:
Harris Jayaraj
Cinematography:
Richard M.Nathan
Editor:
Anthony
Produced by:
Kumar Jayaraman
Genre:
Political Thriller

Plot: Ashwin(Jiiva) is a photojournalist for a Tamil Daily, "Dina Anjal", he is super popular for his great pictures. There are also other journalists for the daily, Saro(Pia) who is in charge of the entertainment section; and Renuka(Karthika) who covers sensational news. (You guessed it! Triangular Love Story) Elections are coming up in TN, and the two major canidates are : Yogeswaran(Prakash Raj), and Alavadhan( Kota Srinivas Rao); they do anything they can to "win" the hearts of the people. Ashwin and Renuka uncover their true colors to the society, which helps Vasanthan(Ajmal) and his party, get popular among the masses. As people, concentrate more on him, he ends up winning the people with his good deeds; since he actually wants clean politics. Sadly during a Election rally a bomb goes off and Saro ends up dying. Now its up to Ashwin and Renuka to find the people behind it. The Climax is shocking.

Performances:Jiiva, seriously poured life into his character, it was like tailor made for him. He scored well in everything from romance to comedy to fighting to emotions. Pia's character was totally made FOR her, she portrayed it so well. Saro is definitely her best performance till date. Saro leaves a mark our hearts, with her bubbliness and cuteness. We can't help but, feel sad,and tear up for her. Karthika was gorgeous, and performance wise too she did well. She couldn't have had a better debut than this. Jiiva had sizzling screen chemistry with both,Pia and Karthika, which doesn't happen to all actors. Ajmal was VERY convincing in his role. Everyone else, didn't have a major part but were there and did well in there small roles, like Prakash Raj,Kota Srinivas Rao, Bose Venkat. Pattimandram Raja had a blink of an eye role.

Aga Naga appearances:
Surya
Karthi
Tammanah
Jai
Shiva
Bharath
Shakthi
Sasikumar
Ganesh Venkataraman
Harris Jayaraj
Rima Kallingal
Anuja Iyer
John Vijay
Jayam Ravi
Krish
Sanjana Singh
Peter Hein
Adharvaa

Music: I have no words for the Music except: OMG Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! :D The movies first song is Aga Naga, where a lot of celebrities appear. But, it didn't live up to the hype around it,it was a bit too vague, I guess. But Tamannah was the only one who actually "participated" in the song. Amali Thumali and Venpaniye were shot in beautiful locations. Ennamo Yedho was situational and a "dancy" song. Netri Pottal was a situational song, while Gala Gala was a campus song. All the songs had awesome costumes. My music review: http://scooponthesouth.blogspot.com/2011/01/ko-music-review-classy.html

Direction-Cinematography-Editing
K.V Anand proves, once again, that we can't go wrong with his movies;there always so classy. Everything is so fine, casting, music, direction, cinematography, editing, everything. The Cinematography adds to the intensity of the film. The stunts, Oh my god. They were so freaking cool and stylish. Jiivas opening in the film was super cool! Special Mention to Peter Hein!

Theme:
The theme of the film is the daily life of a Photojournalist. But it doesn't stop there, Politics is laced into the film, along with journalism. The film is intense which makes it even better.

Pros:
  • Cast
  • Music
  • Pia's Comic timing
  • Story
  • Direction
  • Cinematography
  • Jiiva by himself
  • Costumes
  • Locations
  • Intensity of film
  • Has a Feel Good Factor, with the Intensity
  • No cliches
  • Theme
  • Chinmayi's dubbing for Karthika
  • Lyrics( Special Shout out to: Madhan Karky!)
  • Classiness

Cons:
  • Aga Naga
  • Wrong timing for Venpaniye.
At the end,Jiiva emerges as the Ko of the film and the Box Office :) Watch it, its seriously not your normal commercial Tamil film. Its Intense and just plain awesome! Watch it now, go!! This IS this summers Blockbuster for sure :)

Rating: 4.5/5

Piaa smiles, cries

Piaa Bajpai is in a state of ecstasy. The ‘Poi Solla Porom’ and ‘Goa’ girl couldn’t control smiling even as her eyes busy producing ‘ananda kanneer’, all due to one reason- her recent release ‘Ko’.

Talking to journalists in Chennai Monday, she said, “On this happy occasion, I would like to thank each and everyone who had worked with me in Ko, which is one of the important films in my career.”

“Director K V Anand and writers Suba would tell me that my role in the film would be received well by the masses. I realised it when I watched the movie at a cinema hall in Chennai last weekend,” she said.

The actress added: “My character Saro could have faced a sad ending. But she had given me a reason to smile. All thanks to Anand. I am looking forward for more such rewarding roles in the future.”

In Ko, Karthika plays the role of an investigative journalist (Renuka) who, with the help of her photographer (played by Jiiva), gets a scoop which leads to problems. Ko Music Review- Classy

Ko stars Jeeva,Ajmal,Karthika, and Pia Bajpaal in the lead roles. Ayan fame director K.V Anand directs it. Music is by Harris Jayaraj :)) Most of the music is Romantic, and hip hoppy :) Yes, the music was launched on Jan 19, but I had stuff to do so I didn't review it then . :D :P

Gala Gala-  Tippu,Krish, Haricharan, Sayanora Philip: sounds like the hero title song, its rockish, techonish. :)) Sayanora is back, after Athiradee from Sivaji the boss! :D She's super energetic! :) Has the Dammuku Dammuku because of the harmonica, but it still has its own thing :))

Ennamo Yedho-Aalaap Raju, Prashanthini, Sricharan, Emcee Jesz: this is the song that caught everyone's attention, when the teasers released! :D Its a romantic song, very cute:) has rhyming, captivating lyrics, has a rappy beat. The lyrics are written by Madhan Karky, hats off to him! :) Haven't heard the voices of all three of the singers, but they are soothing.. :)) This one gets stuck in your head easily! :)

Ammali Thummali- Hariharan, Chinmayi,Swetha Mohan: this totally sounds like the rehashed version of Harris's own Hasile Fisile, its evident. Though it seems like it, the song is catchy! :) Cute lyrics :))

Aga Naga- Vijay Prakash, Tipu, Ranina Reddy, Priya Subaramani, Solar Sai, Rap Emcee Jesz, Srik:Its the song with a lot of actors! :D Its sounds like a pub/ casino type of song, its classy thats why. Again, there are some random Telugu lyrics thrown in the song, I don't know why (?). The lyrics sound funny, cause they have all these brand names like Louis Vuitton, and Ferrari :D But the song ends in an unexpected way. Lyrics are written by Pa Vijay,Emcee Jesz, and Srik.

Venpaniye- Sriram Parthasarathy, Bombay Jayashree: Starts out with english lyrics, and transitions into Tamil. Such a calming song, like a Ennamo Yedho part 2 :) But its lovable, and you feel like listening to it again and again. :) Bombay Jayashree is back! :D Love her! :)) Lyrics are written by P.A Vijay, although he turned an actor, he never looses touch in his amazing, sweet lyrics :)

Netri Pottal- Naresh Iyer: As other websites put it, the Youth Anthem, which I totally agree, it talks about youngster stuff  :) Naresh is just perfect :) Lyrics are by Madhan Karky, once again ! :) So I think you understand why the lyrics are so good ... :)

My Rating: 4/5 The music is just spell bounding, you will love it as soon as you listen to it :) Harris proves himself one more time :) Can't wait to see how the songs will look on the big screen! :D Don't miss the movie, which is set to release in February! :)

No Piracy, do buy the CD :)) Thats what I'm going to do, because this music deserves to be preserved :) :D lol. :D

Harris says no to Bollywood

Almost all his albums in Tamil are hits. And music composer Harris Jayaraj, who is riding high on a success wave ever since he made his debut in ‘Minnalae’ a decade ago, is happy with it.

Denying any plan to work for a Hindi film, Harris says, “To be frank, I don’t have the time because I have to honour my commitments here. Also, this is my base and I am not ready to go anywhere.”

He adds: “I am not keen on entering Bollywood and seeking acknowledgment from people there. I am happy with what I am and thanks to the Almighty, I am able to deliver good music here.”

Eagerly expecting the release of two films which have music by him, Harris says, “Both Engeyum Kadhal and ‘Ko’ have beautiful songs. Working with Prabhudeva (for ‘Engeyum Kadhal’) and K V Anand (‘Ko’) was a wonderful experience.”

The Ko Rules the Internet

KO has been in the news ever since shooting for the movie started. The curiosity element touched new heights with news and pictures of the shooting in Norway. If this was not enough, the release of the KO teaser was contagious enough to create a fever-like situation. The brilliant visuals of the mountains and cities of Norway have received so much response that sources claim that KO is the arguably one of the most watched trailers/teasers before a movie's release in recent times. This is a clear indication that KO, the king, is here to rule the audience's hearts after the movie is released.

Jiiva's surprise song in Ko

Well, Shahrukh Khan and Farah Khan did it in Om Shanti Om, and now Tamil actor Jiiva is all set to repeat the same magic in K.V. Anand's Ko. Yes we are talking about a peppy star-studded song.
Apparently, there is a particular scene in Ko where Jiiva, who plays a photo journalist, is being felicitated. And Jiiva has requested some of his industry friends, including Jayam Ravi, Arya, Tamannaah, Poonam, Dhanush, Suriya and Shriya to make a special appearance in the song. According to sources, music director Harris Jayaraj has composed a special hip-hop number for this song.

Jeeva to leave for Norway

Jeeva will be leaving for Norway tonight to shoot some sequences for ‘Ko’, a film directed by K V Anand. Sources say romantic numbers on Jeeva and Karthika (daughter of yesteryear heartthrob Radha) will be shot at the foreign country.

A busy bee, Jeeva will continue working for films like ‘Vandhaan Vendraan’ and ‘Singam Puli’, after coming back from Norway. “This schedule of ‘Ko’ is expected to be completed in a couple of weeks,” sources add.

Talking about ‘Ko’, Jeeva, who plays a photo journalist in the film, says, “When Anand approached me, I thought it was for the negative role. But, it turned out to be the lead role. ‘Ko’ is a wonderful project.”

On ‘Singam Puli’, he says, “Playing a dual role is a dream for any actors. With ‘Singam Puli’, it is realised. I am happy for it.’ Directed by debutant Sai Ramani, Jeeva plays a rough fisherman and a lively advocate in this film.
