Amala Paul was initially said to play the female lead in Mugamoodi but now she has opted out of it. Instead of Amala, Pooja Hegde has been signed up. Pooja was adjudged as the runner-up in the Miss Universe – India contest held recently.
She will be making her debut in Mugamoodi opposite Jiiva. Narain will play a negative role in this movie. The film is directed by Mysskin and produced by UTV Motion Pictures. K is scoring the music for Mugamoodi.
The shooting of Mugamoodi will commence from September onwards and the director is planning a teaser trailer in the meantime.

Cheran and Prasanna's flick, Muran will be having a September release. It was supposed to have been out for the Independence day weekend but things did not pan out for various reasons. However, it has been confirmed that the film will definitely release next month. The leading men are very excited as they both have roles that are far removed from the ordinary. In an interesting development, the trailer of Mugamoodi, Mysskin's superhero saga with Jiiva and Narain will be airing at the same time. This has become quite the trend recently with a lot of production houses opting for this particular gimmick as a promotional tactic. And it seems to be working.

Amala Paul not in Mysskin's Mugamoodi
Director Mysskin is currently busy with the pre-production work of Mugamoodi which will have Jiiva in the lead. In this film, Jiiva will play the role of a super hero, which means he is all set to become Tamil cinema's first super hero. Mugamoodi will be the first super hero movie for UTV in Tamil. There were reports that Kollywood's latest sensation Amala Paul would play the female lead but the actress rubbished these reports, saying she is not a part of the film.Narain, who has earlier worked with Mysskin in the blockbuster Anjathey, will play the villain. Narain and Jiiva will undergo special martial arts training with experts flown in from China. A super hero lies in every one of us; this forms the basic crux of Mugamoodi. It is said that consultants from IIT will create hi-end gadgets for the film and the super hero costumes will be designed by select teams from NIFT. The hunt for the heroine is on.
The film is expected to go on floors in September 2011 and will grace theatres in 2012.

'Mugamoodi' - Tidbits unraveled!
Jiiva is running from pillar to post. The reason - he has signed a number of films, and good ones all that! The actor recently signed for Mysskin's project titled 'Mugamoodi,' the shoot for which will begin in the next couple of months. The pre-production work is going on in full swing and Narain will be seen opposite Jiiva in a negative shade.
The film's storyline deals with a superhero subject - way different from the films that have so far churned out from Mysskin tag. The film, it is suggested, revolves around the belief that there is a superhero within each one which comes out during in a stiff situation. The male leads are believed to be training hard from the Shaolin Temple, China, for getting their mind and body into the martial arts, which is the main ingredient in the film.
There were some reports in a section of media that Mysskin has been impressed with the portfolio of Amala Paul and might rope her in to pair opposite Jiiva in this project, but the actress has rubbished all that revealing she is not a part of this Mysskin venture.
Usually superhero projects have little or no scope of heroines to perform, as the superhero and super villain grab the limelight, in this case it will be Jiiva and Narain who will lap up all credits! But considering the flamboyance of this project the team might be on the look out for a big name for the heroine...
Some sources also suggest that those from IIT will be designing some state-of-the-art gadgets to be used in the film and the costumes and the looks for the characters will be from NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology). The film will have a good dose of special effects which will be done by a Los Angeles-based firm. Buzz is around Kollywood that the director is planning to import stunt men from Hong Kong.
It looks like Mysskin is getting the best in the industry to pull this film off. 'Mugamoodi' is touted to release during the summer of 2012 and will pull children and adults to theatres alike!

Jeeva puts on a ‘Mugamoodi’
Kollywood grapevine is abuzz that Jeeva has been roped in to act under Mysskin’s direction in the latter’s key venture, ‘Mugamoodi,’ and for which the hero will be sporting a never-seen-before look.
Jeeva is currently busy with the shoot of ‘Nanban’ and it is said that after finishing this project under Shankar, he will be taking a short break and proceeding with ‘Mugamoodi.’
We had earlier informed you that Mysskin had first approached Suriya for ‘Mugamoodi,’ but it did not work out due to the high budgets, he later approached a few upcoming heroes and then producers didn’t favour him.
Now it looks like, producers have come forward for this as Jeeva has risen to a star status after delivering a blockbuster hit through ‘Ko.’
The movie deals with a superhero who fights away the dark sides of the society and those close to the director vouch that it will be a perfect family entertainer-cum-thriller.
The team will see funding by a leading corporate company in Mumbai, special effects by a Los Angeles company. What more can a Tamil cinema fan ask for?
The filming will start this August, after ‘Nanban’s completion, and will be a 2012-mid release…
We’ll get back to you shortly with more details on the cast and crew of the film.
