Hindi ‘YMC’ isn’t dropped: Gautham

Denying media reports which claimed that the Hindi version of ‘Ye Maaya Chesave’ has been dropped due to unavoidable reasons, Gautham Vasudev Menon has said the project is on.

“We are now on a small break as Prateik Babbar (the protagonist) is busy promoting his ‘Dhobhi Ghat’ (produced by Aamir Khan and directed by Kiran Rao), which is hitting screens in January,” the director said.

He added: “Also, Amy Jackson (of ‘Madraspattinam’(Tamil) fame) is learning Hindi by attending coaching classes to get her act right while standing in front of the camera for the Bollywood version of YMC.”

Saying that she would come to India once the shooting dates are confirmed, the filmmaker said ‘YMC’ is one of the films which is very close to his heart. In the meantime, Gautham’s directorial venture ‘Nadunisi Naaigal’(Tamil) and production venture ‘Veppam’(Tamil) are getting ready for release.

Mahesh Babu's in-law turns hero with SMS

Prince Mahesh Babu's brother-in-law Naga Sudhir (husband of Padmini Priyadarshini) is turning hero.

Tollywood grapevine is abuzz that the Krishna family would soon launch Naga Sudhir as hero as he is good looking and has some experience in acting too! Naga Sudhir appeared in a cameo as Samantha's brother in Gautham Menon's Ye Maya Chesave.

Mahesh Babu's sister Manjula will produce Sudhir's debut flick SMS; Tatineni Satya of Bheemili Kabaddi Jattu fame will direct it. More details are awaited.

Samantha – the next big thing!

She announced her arrival as the saree-clad ‘Jessie’ in ‘Ye Maaya Chesave’. And then she’s the talk of the town, or even South India, as she’s now the next big thing even in Tamil. Samantha, the pretty, appealing, and all adjectives synonymous to beautiful are coming to screens in her 2nd Telugu movie ‘Brindaavanam’ with Junior NTR. She’s now coming in a new avatar – the modern day sizzling babe!

When ‘Ye Maaya Chesave’ released, the talk was of course about a usual love story shot in a unique way by director Gautham. But there was an even noisier talk about the beautiful heroine who was not called by her name but by her character ‘Jessie’. Clad in cotton sarees, Samantha stole the hearts of all the young men in the state. Though it wasn’t exactly her first movie, it was her debut in terms of release. In a saree, she mesmerized almost everyone, of course credits to cinematographer Manoj Paramahamsa.

Now the Telugu audiences are going to see her in modern clothes. Trendy, catchy and attractive clothes that would probably give Samantha the ‘oomph’ factor. Perhaps, the change in avatar is to join the rat race to be the best heroine, not that we are complaining to always see her in saree. The discussion is all about the buzz Samantha would receive when one would see her in modern clothes after seeing her in traditional Indian wear.

Samantha, Jessie & Priya

“People in Andhra Pradesh call me Jessie (her role in ‘Ye Maya Chesave’, the Telugu version of ‘Vinnai Thandi Varuvaya), while Chennaiites call me Priya (the name of her character in ‘Baana Kathadi’),” says Samantha.

“I am happy with both the names as they are close to my heart. I feel nervous as well as excited when people congratulate me for my performance in both the movies,” says the Chennai girl.

The actress, who is expecting the release of ‘Moscowin Kaveri’, says, “Actually my first film was Moscowin Kaveri. But my other two films hit the screens before Moscowin Kaveri, directed by Ravivarman, could make it.”

On the film, he says, “Ravivaraman is not just a great cinematographer, but a nice story teller too. He has brought on screen an interesting love story. I am happy to be part of his first directorial venture.”
